Aluminum wheels

How do u care for polished aluminum wheels? Beside using the cleaners to get the tarnish off what else should I do. I didn't take them off the car this winter and there is all kinds of crap on them now. I got a dremel and some blue coral aluminum polish, going to do that this evening.

I'm assuming your wheels are clearcoated. If that is the case, I would not use aluminum polish. Those products are designed for non-clearcoated wheels.

It should be as easy as using some warm soap and water, followed up by a good quality wax or polymer, like Zaino or Meguiars.

yes, warm soap and water does fine. for some tough stuff you can spray a little windex on the wheels to get rid of it.

what does your wheel still look like? lots of black stuff still on it?

you may need to use something a little stronger........soaking with windex or 409 should get that stuff off.

Yes preety much. Lots of crusty black stuff on it. Some so deep that after I polished I could still see the dots. Neway I tried 409 on them yesterday and this other spray on metal cleaner I dont remember the name. Still no luck.

Yes, I learned my lesson. I will make sure I chage them when winter starts. Last year I changed them but the weather was so good that I put them back on. Now I am paying for it.
