Addicted to gloss enhancer

Process: Wash x"s with NXT, Clay with clay magic, wax with s100. Wash 1x after a week, wash another time after 2weeks. After second weeks wash, dry, wait an hour then 4*gloss enhancer, wax with s100, then another coat of 4*gloss on hood, roof , and trunk. I know the tires and wheels are not dressed. Not bad for a 10 foot car. BTW the car has 945 miles on it.

Question: The hood and the trunk are clean looking but when I view the doors the reflection looks distorted, almost like an orange peel. Can this be is this normal. The car looks fine as you can see and I dont notice this distortion until its in a photograph.

In the fall I plan on getting a PC with assorted pads. I bought Optimum polish and 4* UPP. So my detail will go wash, clay optium,UPP,4* gloss enhancer, and last S100. I got the Optimum because I heard it was easy to work with, i read on another forum that Optium works better with a rotary than a PC. Any input?

I forgot to add the car only has minor spider webs in more of a strait line no swirl marks. I also thought about getting PB 2.5 and 1. Wil the OPT acomplish my goals and be a good newb polish? Thanks to Patrick for the advice and the products. Can I start a tab?

The reflection on the doors look distorted because they have a slight curvature. Your TL looks awesome. Nice job

I would consider it more of QD type product as it extends/prolongs the original layer of sealant and used for touch ups and in between washes. You might also give UPPS a shot. I haven't tried the DGAW, but will probably get some real soon.

The Four Star Ultimate Gloss Enhancer, a.k.a. FS UGE, is a quick detailer with some additional kick. It contains Polymers which extend the base coats (hopefully your using UPP or another Polymer) durability. Smells good, clear easily, and doesnt streak. Noticeable slickness is regaind with this product, as well as additional durability. Great stuff simply said.........Wait till you try Aqua Wax.

From Top of the Line :
S100 Carnauba Wax
S100 Carnauba Wax for motorcycles is hand formulated with the same care as the P21S paste wax. It creates incredible depth on dark colors and can be layered for ultimate durability and gloss. We recommend pre-cleaning the paint with our Hi-Temp Light Cut or the P21S Paintwork Cleaner.

S100 Carnauba Wax is a hand-poured blend of German waxes, proprietary ingredients and pure Brazilian Carnauba wax. The result is a wax that goes on and comes off with incredible ease. There's virtually no chalky, powder residues and it won't stain rubber, plastic, or vinyl trim moldings.

Apply a light coat over a small area and do not wait for the wax to dry. Wipe off right before the wax begins to haze. No need to rub. Just a light wipe and your done!

Dont expect any miracles with it though. IMO, its just an average Nuba....For the $ and time spent, you deserve better protection. Go with a spray sealant, you'll be twice as happy.....The only good thing I liked about S100 was that the jar seamed to last forever!

I just applied the S100 this weekend. Easy on and off. What type of spray sealant do you recommend? Can it be applied over the s100 between coats of s100 or do you recommend replacing s100 with this.? thanks

I think Patrick will agree with this one - Four Star UPP. It's also available as a spray. Application wise - sealant first then top with a 'nuba (opt). The result is a deep, slickery shine with durability and longevity you may just forget about the 'nuba (S100/Nattys).

I put ClearKote quick shine on top of UPP.

Sure it was the wrong thing to do. Dont know why didnt use four star qd...

Must be nuba, gave me back some depth (and orange peel) and slickness.

Thank goodness for this board. My car got huge fallout from a big fireworks show, followed by a rain sprinkle. No damage. Weird things happen to cars. Would like to see what some of the other cars in the fireworks lot look like day after.

Thanks all!

Okay, so that I'm clear you recommend the Four Star UPP (what does UPP stand for) on top of a sealant. Currently, I have used the AIO and 2 coats of SG. I coat of S100. I liked the results after the S100 but am concerned about its durablity. Are you saying to stop using s100 and go with Four Star UPP as the top coat to the Klasse SG? If so, how often shoult the Four Star be applied? I usually do the AIO/SG 1x/year so the Four Star is what I would use during the year in place of the S100 if you feel it is a better product. Where do you buy four Star UPP? Thanks for all the advice. So many products out there but only 2 cars to put them on.

UPP = Ultimate Paint Protection is a polymer sealant. Don't get me wrong I think the Klasse Twins are great products. AIO is one of the better pre-wax cleaners available. SG is a very durable sealant but didn't give the look or the shine as UPP does. I apply UPP twice a year, Spring and before the start of the Winter season.

S100 is a natural wax (carnuba) and applying it over sealant has been a practice for enthusiasts and pros. You could call it a finishing touch. A 'nuba can give the finish depth and have a wetter look. Nubas are not known for their durability and need to be applied more often than synthetic waxes (SG, UPP, EX-P). For a 'nuba, I prefer PB Nattys.

I've said this numerous times, If you're extremely satisfied with the results from the products you're currently using, the by all means, continue to use them. As is stands, my sealant of choice is UPP/UPPS. It's available at Exceldetail, Autopia, Premium Auto Care, Danase and Four Star

So UPPS is UPP in a spray form? So use it as a QD or a LSP?

Yes, thats what its designed for. I wouldnt go as far as saying its UPP ina bottle. But it is a Polymer Sealant, in spray form. You'll find unique characteristics along with just about any spray sealant. One I find discernable is its ability to clear itself out. In other words, spray, wipe, turn towel, wipe again, done. Period. Additional slickness comes with exposure to air and sun after initial application, for about 24-36 hrs. Feel free to apply another coat after that time. Its a great cover product if your already using UPP, but does well as a stand alone.
