$400 to spend....need help!

OK....have $400 to spend irresponsibly and I want to get some kick butt car care stuff. I’m planning on getting a Porter Cable, but after that I’m not sure what to do. I’ve tooled around on “autopia.com” but there seems to be a lot of different opinions around there.

I think I want to get the Zaino Kit #2 ($116.95) from zainobros, but I have a NHB TSX and I have a lot of swirl marks. I've looked at getting Meguar's Speed Glaze for those, but I'm lost.

What else do you guys think I should go for…what works for you?

Thanks in advance!

Funny you say that....I actually thought of that, but it seems like noone has gotten any decent gains from any of the headers on the market. Apperently the DC Sports ones like to crack .....if I'm wrong, by all means tell me....it's not a bad idea.

Zaino was a little too much for me (not $, but effort and steps...) I'm going with the BlackFire products.... FWIW... and get plenty of 303!

I'd suggest using Meguiar's DACP for your swirl removing, it breaks itself down during application, so it starts off as mainly a swirl remover and finishes up as a great polish. Most other products come in steps, causing you to judge the damage of the swirls and then pick the abrasiveness from a few products (i.e. SSR 1, SSR2, SSR2.5, SSR3... Poorboy's SuperSwirlRemover line.. ) The DACP is more user friendly, and a staple in my detailing regiment.

The portercable is a no-brainer.. but make sure you get a gooset of polishing pads along with the porter, the one that comes with the porter should only be used in an emergency... it's total crap.

Now for an additional polish and protection I would suggest using a synthetic sealant then topping it with a high quality caranauba wax. So, possibly Klasse AIO then SG then top it with Meguiars #16, Natty's Paste Wax, P21S etc.. You will get the legnthy protection from the sealants, however the shine and depth can't match a true caranuba wax, that's why caranuba wax is the most popular wax for car shows....

Paino is way too labour intensive and most (90+%) of the users do not apply it the way Zaino specs .. Technically you'd have to leave your car for a day untouched in your garage between coats of sealant.. Paino does include a "flash additive" for $45 but two questions should come to mind when you see the flash additive, "why is it not in the regualr zaino?" and the other question being "in giving the speed of a quick curing sealant what does the flash cure take away from the "real" zaino look?" It would be in the regular Zaino if it was benifical to Shine or the Protection..

Wow, thanks guys....I think I'm going to go with the Klasse and Meguires...you have me convinced. The other question I have is that you have me interested in that swaybar....but how hard is it to install?

Thanks!

Oh here we go again. The curing agent is only for those that want to layer multiple coats of Z within a 24 hour period. All products require a curing time before a second layer can be applied. Sure you can put multiple layers of carnauba on but you're just removing the previous layer. Oh and it's $20 and it's good for 16-20 ounces of polish. I use it maybe once or twice a month, when I want to layer multiple coats, so it lasts a long time.

Sal make the curing agent an option since most users only put one coat on per day. Why waste the money with the curing agent if you don't need it?

And back to the it takes too long to apply. If you prep the car properly, something that most manufacturers never bother to explain, you can apply a coat of Z in less than 15 minutes.

I can apply a coat of Z2 to my car in less than 10 minutes, wait about an hour for it to cure (without the curing agent) and buff it to a briliant shine. I'm too lazy to post pics, but search the board for my car.
