V-LED New DRL Harness

I just spoke to my contact over at V-LEDS.com about the new DRL harness that's coming out which will give the 07-08 owners some full powered DRL's utilizing the same wiring principals as an HID harness. This will also ensure that there is no "DRL" indicator on the gauges.

A few of us on here have been testing these and V-LEDs is ready to produce them, however they've been busy working on their LED back orders and haven't had time to start getting these into mass production. However, as they don't wnat to leave us hanging, they have offered to hand make a few of these to hold us over for the time being. My contact there has asked me to gauge an interest in this so he knows roughly how many sets to make. He's thinking about making 10, but doens't want to come up short.

Please be advised that I am NOT an employee of V-LEDS.com, nor does this imply any sort of group buy or commitment for me to sell or you to buy these products, this is simply just getting an idea of how many to make.

Mods, if this post is against the rules or out of line, please let me know and we can delete, lock, or whatever else you'd like to do with this thread. I apologize in advace if I've crossed that line.

Thanks for your help!

From V-LED's:

"Cost on the kit, which includes 2 plug and play resistors on mounting plates, and the TL specific relay harness is $39.99. This will cancel the DRL warning light on the dash and run full charging voltage to the LEDs (13.8-14.2 volts) The voltage that is at the factory plug is about 7 volts, so this effectively makes them twice as bright as just plugging LEDs into the stock plug."

V-LED's will setup a link on their website to purchase the item and the sale wil be made through them like any other product. I understand that the first run will be 10 units.

I don't believe there are any pictures, however it's your basic relay harness that you'd find with an HID kit, however it has 2 resistors wired in to trick the vehicle to shut the "DRL" dash light off.

I will pass on te link when I get it.

This is funny because I just dealt with our other sponsor HIDextra, which was NO HELP and really annoying because they ended up never working, just kept flickering even with there bypass module. I would try it out if I didn't already buy the V-LEDs 6k bulbs.

Looks like you guys got the link. Here it is with the e-mail notice from the vendor:

http://www.v-leds.com/Exterior-LED/D...87937-1-3.html

"Hey Matt,

We are getting the listing built and uploaded the website. I have 9 harnesses that are ready to go, I used one to test to make sure everything was functioning properly.

We will be listing the harnesses as a kit including the LEDs. I know that you already have LEDs. I arranged for these first 9 harnesses to be available to the forum members who have already purchased our LEDs. I will forward you a link to the harness only listing as soon as its available. Please advise that after these first 9 are sold they will only be available with a pair of LEDs.

Regards,
James

this harness will allow you to receive full power to your DRL lights.. so you can put in LEDs, HIDs, or regular bulbs without them being very dim. Also, it should by-pass the "DRL" light that pops up on ur dash board.

Update from V-LED's:

"Hey Matt,

After the harness only SKU is sold out we will only be selling the harness with a pair of LEDs. Here is a link to the full kit:
http://www.v-leds.com/Exterior-LED/D...87941-2-1.html

You can select 6K or 5K LEDs for this application. So if anyone is looking for the “answer” to the DRL this is it!

Thanks for your help.

Regards,
James

That should answer the bulb question too then...

WOW too bad HIDEXTRA didn't piss me off with these or I would buy them because I opted for the other bulb that is available from V-LEDs. HIDEXTRA has THE WORST customer service and THE WORST support, they couldn't fix anything and had NO answers for my questions. These should sell instantly.

Any word on the longevity of these LEDs? These are pretty high-powered and I'd imagine will be getting pretty hot and they'll be on constantly..

That's true but if they're high-powered they may still get hot. That doesn't matter if they just flash for awhile (turn signal) but might come into play if they're constantly on and it's 110F outside with sun blazing down and driving on a hot blacktop, etc...

From what WhteTLS previously posted above you can use them even on your stock drl bulbs....if you so choose.

The new harness has new resistors in them. You would only need to purchase the harness itself.

Perhaps you didn't plug the resistor sockets and the harness in the correct places. Here's some pics that might help (courtesy of V-LEDs):

just remember guys that you can use this directly with LED's ONLY and not use them to power an HID kit or halogen bulbs! The only to use Halogens/HID's is to get a another relay harness and use this harness as a trigger!

I am confused by this comment...when you buy the 99 dollar kit you get 2 led bulbs 2 resistor harnesses and an hid wiring harness. The resistors plug into the factory harness then into the hid wiring harness as a right and left trigger. It is my understanding that this new hid wiring harness can be used to power any bulb you want. The relay on the hid wiring harness even says hid right on it. Did you mean you can't plug the resistor harness right into a halogen bulb? I would agree that wouldnt work...
