synthetic oil
Is synthetic oil recomended for the new TL? Does anyone know the pros/cons of synthetic oil (time between changes, relative cost, engine benefits). Do I need to decide at the time I order the car (pre-build), or can the oil type can be changed after the fact?
(My brother insists it's necessary for any car I plan to keep a while)

The Midi now indicates a type A service and type B, with A as an Oil only, and B oil and filter - Strange.
Dealer says that type A is 3750 miles and B is 7500 miles.

I am not sure how far back the archives go, but there were a lot of threads on this subject a couple of years ago. The advice I got was to stay away from synthetic oil until the engine is broken in. With synthetic oil, the engine takes much longer to break in. I was told 8000 miles. There were some test samples in the posts, one in which the guy was actually told he started using synthetic oil too soon.
