Lower transmission mounts replacement - HOW?
Hi there, I don't have a TL, but I do have a 2007 Accord V6, which uses the same transmission as the TL and similar transmission mounts. I'm looking to replace the 2 lower transmission mounts. I already went down under and realized that there are 2 studs on each mount that stick into the frame of the car. So when i unbolt, there is no way for me to free the mounts unless the transmission is lifted by a jack + a piece of wood to support it. With that said, should I unbolt the upper mount first? Is it then safe for me to jack up the transmission with the 3 motor mounts still bolted in place?

I tore my six speed lower tranny mount.
not sure if your automatic tranny mount is the same...
all I did was unbolt the lower mount from the subframe, unbolt the mount from the tranny, and wiggled it free.

in the thread, more experienced people are saying that in order to get the REAR lower mount, ALL mounts have to come out and the tranny has to be jacked up.

honestly it doesnt look hard at all, actually looks very easy. I used to have a 2006 accord 4 cylinder and I did the transmission lower mounts no problem very easily. Here's some pics from when I did it:



you have to remember that the mount is rubber and has plenty of room to flex so its not difficult to maneuver out

thanks for the pictures! I don't know why I didn't think of this, but I might as well just cut off the middle of the mount using a small saw since I don't need the old mounts anymore. But I hope I can squeeze in the new ones.

Don't worry cutting is not necessary. Look at my pictures, I did them myself personally and I can guarantee you they have more than enough flex in them to install easily. These mounts are not like the engine mounts which are much thicker and less flexible. Honestly these lower transmission mounts are soft enough that I don't think they do much except dampen vibrations and noise, I kinda doubt they even support the transmission.
^mine supported the tranny, as I could tell something was broken..when I went for a stop, the whole weight of the car shifted forward.
taking a u-turn proved to be difficult as well, as the weight just shifted so much, i was sure it was the LSD.

Well yeah it supports it a little I guess, that's why I had to raise the transmission slightly to thread the bolts in. But iono, I don't recall feeling any symptoms when mine broke. I only replaced it cuz I saw it broken. But my accord was an automatic so it probably doesn't make as much of a difference.

It looks tight down there that the mounts won't come out unless I jack up the trans a little bit, hence my original question. Since the trans is connected to the motor, I don't want anything else to get messed up when I jacked up the transmission a little bit. I am assuming there is a little give in the other 3 motor mounts for me to jack up the transmission... right?

I'm not ignoring what you said, I SAW what you said. I'm just confirming because mattymattB in this post, https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=863938 , said that he had to loosen all mounts in order to get enough space to get the rear lower mount in. I'm not going to loosen all mounts at the same time because that renders the motor + tranny unstable.
just take my advice okay? I dont talk out of my ass, when I say something, it's because I have experience with it and can back it up. first off what sharksbreath said about the lower transmission mount is for his 07 Type S. the mount design on that is completely different, that one is for sure very hard to do. however yours IS EASY. Remember, 07-08 is MUCH different than the 04-06 automatics. I dunno about mattymattB but I would assume he has an 07-08 too.
now just go ahead and do the replacement, and you'll post back here saying how easy it was.
