Oil Catch can or oil separator
They are technically the same ya?
In anyrate I got to cleaning my TB a few days ago and decided to look into the IM and wow was i surprised in what i found! Oil as far as i the eye can see. I just bought the car in May 2014 so it has never been cleaned or looked after.
Took everything apart and gave it a good cleaning. The car feels a bit more responsive and i have the piece of mind that its all good in there again.
So i wanted to know how to diy and oil catch can. Ive read a few threads but pics are all dead.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Also going to replace PCV dont think its ever been done.

Here is a link to the air/oil separator I am using. It works great and pulls a good amount of gunk from the air. A catch can is usually more for venting crank case gases since its not a sealed system, just a can with a filter on it and maybe some baffling to pull as much oil from the air as possible.

do you have another one of those hooked up to the other valve cover or does that 1 connection from the valve cover to the intake manifold cover it? Is this where you would place a "traditional catch can"?

The back valve cover has a 8 AN hose that connects to the catch can. Since its where the PCV system draws air into, a oil seperator wouldn't work. I did this more because of the blow by I was having. Prior to the blow by I just had a small filter on the rear valve cover and it never a drop of oil.
