2007 TL Type-S Seat swap?
Hi guys! I'm new here and got some questions. I've had a 1995 Integra for 11 years now and finally buying something newer. This week I am getting a 2007 Acura TL Type-S with the A-Spec kit, with 93k miles and it’s black with the cream white (Taupe/Ebony) interior seats and the two-tone door panels but about everything else is black. Well, I don’t like the seats at all!! They almost kept me from buying it but I need to get past that. But, I’d like to buy\trade to get black or grey seats.
So, I assume the front seats are just 4 bolts and the electric harness and the back seat I’m not too familiar with.
Has anyone done this before?
Do the seat warmers or airbags need reconfigured to match my car?
Is it better left alone? Lol
Any recommendations besides checking with the local junk yards? Any good websites to buy a whole OEM seat besides piece by piece, either used or brand new.
I live in Columbus, Ohio if anyone wants to trade!

I haven't taken the seats out of my TL, but I assume it's no different than the other four honda products I've owned. Just unbolt the 4 bolts and undo the harness. Maybe unplug the battery to be safe, but I don't even think that is necessary.
Definitely No reprogramming or anything. It'll just Be a matter of you finding seats you're happy with.

To remove the back seat there is a bolt in the middle between the bottom seat cushion and the top. Also, on the driver and passenger side you will feel up under the bottom cushion and feel a piece of plastic. Pull it towards you and the seat will then lift up. Super easy, some people make a big deal of removing the back seat but it is super easy. The upper portion has two hidden bolts in slit behind the head rests. LOOSEN THEM DON'T REMOVE THEM. Remove the two bolts at the bottom of the upper cushion and lift the whole thing up.
The front seats are four bolts, two being under the covers. Disconnect your wiring.
It took me maybe 20-25 minutes to remove all the seats in my car to detail my car (yes, I am that anal) the other weeked. I literally gutted the entire car in about two hours. Putting it all back together took a little longer.
You can swap the interior with no issues but I wouldn't, you're only going to hurt your resale value. Otherwise, you will need to store the original interior somewhere or keep the car forever. If you total the car, insurance will give you less without that Type S interior unless you get an adjuster who doesn't know better (good luck) which is rare.
Good luck.

Wait, so you want to remove the original taupe (light gray) seats, for the Type S's other available interior color (Ebony/silver)? If that's the case it's simple plug and play, but goodluck finding a complete set in excellent condition. And after that your still gonna have to replace all the door panels and center console lid...also, the taupe interior has light gray headliner and pillar covers. The Ebony Type S has all black headliner which is bad ass. So basically, if you want the black Type S interior and you want it complete, your gonna need almost everything to do it right. Seats, door panels, center console lid, and headliner and pillars. Lots of work and money. Should have just bought a Type S with Ebony interior from the beginning.

I will definitely get type-s seats put in, if I decide to replace them. But, I agree with most, that they will probably grow on me and I should have just bought one with the ebony interior but this one is right and reasonable for what I wanted, besides the seats. I’ve been looking on an off for a new car for about a year and this is the first one in my price range that actually made me go see it in person and test drive it! New tires, alignment, new floor mats, new battery, timing belts been replaced, both OEM master keys, etc. So, after a few days of thinking about it, I decided to ignore the interior color and jump the gun on this great car! Excited to move from a 95' 4 cylinder to the TL-S!
Any general recommendations I need to know besides I have to put premium gas in it?
Oh yea and it’s the automatic not manual.

^if you have maintenance records, look through them to see if transmission has been serviced. If not, change the fluid (3X3 method) and the pressure switches. Type-s has three switches I believe........

well seeing as you would have to pay minumum 800$ for front and rear seats alone. i would advise just doing something custom like my friend @esreal did. he is a member on here and the shop that did his red diamond plating did a great job.
BUT there is another memeber on here from OHIO that did the whole conversion pic by pic step by step of replacing everything from a red type s to his blue type s. i forget his username at the moment but i def saw the thread.

as far as the interior and ins this guy i knew once had a integra type r that got wrecked. they swapped the motor seats and 5 lug and the ins agent gave him the full check at full value! i was like wow what fools he basically got another almost 8 grand after he sold everything for free!
im just saying dont worry about the seats it shoudnt affect value of the car if written off maybe just sold to a type s enthusiast
