Will not display on the lower screen. I know, does not make sense.

On another note, I had the BRAKE image pop up on the windshiled when there was a brick in the middle of the road, or that was all I seen when the warning came up - no other cars around.

that is a major display design flaw.
with the audio controls displayed in lower screen and then select audio for upper screen, the info is 90% the same except of course the upper display adds artist/song
What were they thinking?

Have detailed my saga in the RL thread. Reason for loaner is that plug ejected from engine (2005 RL)

As an option to replace car, they quoted me:

Tech package $44.5K
Advance $49.3K

Thoughts?

Yes. If you don't need everything in the Advance, and don't want to wait for the Sport Hybrid, the Tech is a screaming deal. Those are the deals being quoted by others here.

If I were not so hot on the tech for the Sport Hybrid, I'd have jumped on a Tech or Advance already.

As somebody else said, "screaming deals."

It's a hell of a lot of car for that amount of money.

thanks for thoughts
no need for AWD here (SF Bay area), but always like to have it

maybe this could tide me over until the kinks are worked out of the hybrid

seems like $5K additional for the advance is worth it

here's what I'm talking about regarding the duplicate info
everything in top screen is in lower screen except Artist/Song
you can change source/volume/channel in either screen

Alex complained about that, too.

However, in other audio sources like iPod, you get quite a bit more information on the top screen than would fit on the bottom...like the names of tracks instead of just the buttons to change tracks.

You might notice that the bottom screen dims quite a bit after a few moments when you've done this.

I'm curious.... What would you want on the bottom screen in this case?

I'd like the bottom to display/control everything
My point is that why should I lose the Nav info when I have a whole other screen

I paid $61k+ plus for my Advanced...so YES...GET IT! Hell of a deal at $49k.

I'm from the train of thought that once you get into any car that is $40k or higher, it's silly not to get all the bells and whistles. Might as well feel good about your purchase when you're up in that realm of spend. $5k difference on a $50k spend is well worth the extra investment and you'll love all the small (and big) extras that come with the Advanced.

I agree with this. It makes the screen redundant and confusing. Personally I felt the lower screen should have been 100% focused on Audio and A/C controls while the top screen gives you everything else. This approach provides a more "logical" and "practical" replacement to what the lower screen is replacing: the Radio and A/C console control area of standard vehicles. One thing to keep in mind though, is this could change quite a bit with support for Carplay....

While slightly on the same subject, I reeeeeeaaallly wish Acura would figure out how to provide a simple one-key access to mute the volume of the Nav system while you're using HFL. This is such an obvious use-case where you don't want "bitching betty" yelling out directions and such while you jump on a call, yet you have to dig through 2-3 menus to finally get to it. If they don't provide a quick option for it, then it should at least be intelligent enough to mute the navigation volume when HFL is in use and un-mute it once the call is done.

Good luck. The RLX tends to look good in bright neutral tones.

pulled the trigger
black on black
they have to get it from another Dealer, so pick it up tomorrow

also, in terms of hybrid pricing, this is what he said - Advance Model will be just under 70K, he did not recall exactly, but thought 69K, the lower model around 64K
Not sure that sounds right, but that was he recalled the Rep saying when they came around a week ago.
He also said that they were only going to be allocated 3 per year! This is not one of the bigger Acura Dealers in the Bay Area, but 3 per year is tiny. So, no discounts and probably some Dealer markup

Congrats! You're going to love it, I'm sure. Did you go with the Tech or Advance model?

I got the Advance

I really wanted to wait for the Hybrid, but if the Hybrid Advance is really 69K, that is 20K over what I paid. Can't justify that. Even if it is more like 66K, still a stiff premium over what I got this Advance for

Can't wait to drive it and put up some pics

Guess I'll have to live with that UI issue

Congrats on your car getakey. If you do much hwy driving I suggest a 3M clear mask for bumper, hood and mirrors, especially with black exterior.

Congrats on the purchase! It's a solid car and like neuronbob, I'm so tempted to pull the trigger buy going to wait it out. We will see what the 2015 model year brings...

Post some pictures once you get it!

Red face Me Too

I am sad. I have been waiting for the hybrid but my patience is running out & now that there could be a ~$15k price difference, I may just have to consider the FWD. This is a shame bc I found hybrid to be nicer looking (not many differences but the wood was a big improvement) & after this crazy winter, I am considering AWD for the 1st time ever.

Anyhoo, I test drove a CTS sedan this past weekend bc Cadillac was offering a $100 if you took a test drive. I liked the interior - especially the seat design & all the metal accents. I did not care for the shiny black plastic in the center dash tho. I want to see their Plum Majestic Mettalic in person, as I have always been partial to the purplish black that my old Honda/Acura Currant Black Pearl had (Infiniti now has it called Malbec Black).

If I am crossing the RLX hybrid off my list, then it is time to start shopping for real & doing test drives. I dread this with a passion as it means my phone will never stop ringing from sales people but I am long overdue for a new ride.

Should the 2015 RLX not be out soon? The 2014 has been out a year now. Hopefully it will have some changes that would be worth waiting for.

Congrats getakey on your new ride! I may join you in getting a black on black advance.

LOL.... So much for "bright neutral" colors. :-)

You'll get a surprise per day for a very long time. There's a lot to learn about how things work and how to customize all the items.

It'll be hard to stop fiddling with it for a long time.

Huh. That's strange. Although I admit that I might be thinking about an RLX Hybrid (or a TLX SH-AWD) in December, I think that the regular RLX is slightly better looking than the RLX Hybrid.

Take a look at both cars, head on or front quarter view.

Do you really like how those LED fog lights fit in the nose?

I do not. I think it makes the nose of the car a little unwieldy.

It would not stop me from buying the RLX Hybrid, but I believe the nose of the RLX looks better.

:-)

Congrats!

We will know hybrid pricing soon. Really, really hoping it's not pushing $70k. And I'm still laughing at any dealer who's going to mark these up, it will be suicide for the hybrid model.

I can afford the hybrid easily but if I can get a PAWS Advance for $49k I may have to make the jump. $20k over what PAWS costs I can invest in my son's college fund.

Again, we'll know shortly.

I could not in good conscious sell to someone without telling them about the fix, so I basically gave it up to the Dealer for nominal amount

You are a good person for not trying to sugarcoat an unfortunate situation. Strange how the #5 CYLINDER IS PROBLEMATIC ON THE J-SERIES ENGINES. I had a Xzilon treatment done on my car (interior and exterior) before delivery last Aug. and have gotten environmental fallout on the paint - they are taking care of it for me as I write this.
