Question for people with jerky transmissions

Do you drive light-footedly?
I do. I'm constantly trying to watch my MPGs, so i generally drive with a light foot. I accelerate gradually, rarely get into high RPMs, etc. I've always been displeased with the jerkiness of gear shifts. But i've started to notice lately that whenever i drive more aggressively, the transmission feels so much better. shifts feel smooth and the car is just more pleasant to drive. It'll drive well for a little while, until the transmission relearns my light-footed habits. I think this also affects throttle hesitation (but i haven't done enough testing to tell).
So for all of you with transmission complaints, do you drive with a light foot? Are you an MPG watcher?

Most people will report a little rough shifts when car is new, expect it to get smoother after you put 4-5K miles on it. If it still feels very rough, I suggest you see your dealer.

Never tried to light-foot a car. Wouldn’t that make you fall asleep while driving?

I probably have a medium foot. But, the only shift that I'd call "jerky" is a light throttle condition when the road elevates slightly and the trans drops a gear to maintain speed. I'm still only around 2k miles, but it feels like even this may be smoothing out. I don't consider mine a jerky transmission.

If you wanted to feel a jerky transmission, you should have been there when I taught my daughter how to drive a stick.

Now at 7k miles, I am enjoying 10sp trans very much. I had a weird feeling about it when I just got the car, but after initial break-in and getting used to it, I am very happy with it. I guess its a very different transmission with all the gears and also using orbital gears instead of clutches. There is some driver adjustment needed also. Its very smooth in my car, you do feel when gears change, but no jerks.

Tough gig for a car, teaching manual shifting. Oh well, likely to be a lost skill before much longer.

I have a heavy foot and it shifts pretty well, I wish it picked up quicker after slowing down, if you manually shift down it will, they need to update the transmission programming. Overall I like the transmission tho.

What drive mode is it in? In Sport mode, I find the car is much more difficult to drive like a pansy (yes, I'll admit it, that's how I drive a lot of the time). Comfort is much easier as all throttle inputs seem delayed as well as more input needed to get throttle response. Sport can be touchy, but it's a fair trade off when you want to stomp on it to get around the guy doing under the speed limit trying to monitor his MPGs.

I'm light footed as well and watch the MPGs too. I find this transmission pretty smooth in all modes NOT like my 2018 RDX with old 6 speed. First to second was rough and complained to the service folks when I took it in for other warranty worked. They said it was normal. The only thing good about that tranny was that it was easy to drain and refill...which I did twice in my garage. I think it helped. But this 10 speed is much nicer. I just turned 1k on the vehicle and think its the nicest car I've iver owned.
