There is a lot of car play related bug fix. Maybe it's time for me to consider switching to iphone instead of waiting for android auto ver 1.0

Just did the update before going to work. Did the download in the garage and installed while driving. It took on 12 to 15 minutes.

Ugh, I got the message on the in car screen, got the email, yet when I try to get the update, it says:
Checking for updates
System Up-to-Date
There are no updates currently available

I've tried several times, both through my home wi-fi and through my cell (tethered wifi)

Yep, got an email notification of the availability a few minutes ago. Have not yet done anything about it as I've been busy moving snow around.

Maybe it's one of those things that'll be available in the mid cycle refresh in 2022ish...

My system states "No updates available" for me here in MI around 4:20pm

Tried at home, in the garage, with my home's mesh router plugged into the garage (full wifi connection)

Going to try again later.

Got the update today on the way home today. The only thing I noticed was the navigation now allows for different zoom scaling without reverting back to the default. Haven't had time to check and see if the annoying system error on rotating thru the satelite preselects is still doing it.

Maybe it goes by VIN so they don't overload their systems. I got an alert on the screen (one of those exclamation marks on the "system" icon). That's how I found out about it.

Same here alert on screen, yet I hav tried numerous times via different means, no go. Even just tried via USB. Guess I just have to be patient.

Just want to use my google map / waze on the big screen. If Acura ever gives us android auto I can always switch back.

it should work over the cars network with AcuraLink. You shouldn’t even need your phone

hmm...is it still showing you the alert? For me it worked flawlessly. I just clicked the icon with the alert. It said there was an update available and I could choose to either download now (while driving) or wait till the car was turned off. I selected the option to do it right away. I got some funky screen saver style graphics for 15 min or so during which the update was downloaded and applied. System rebooted and everything was good.

Just tried sending a destination to the car with the mobile app and with the car off after the update. I’m happy to say that when I got back in the car and turned it on, the destination was there waiting for me. 👍🏻👍🏻

That's exactly what I did and have no regrets. First ever iPhone and didn't take long to get used to it. I had a big cross country trip to California last fall and didn't want to do it without waze/gmaps.

When I try it via USB, the car DLs the files to the USB stick, then when I put it in the computer, I see a folder called rb, which has inside 2 files: LInkFileForHondaWeb, and update_by_usb.json. Clicking on the LinkFileForHondaWeb,takes me to a screen (usb.Acura.com) that says: "Welcome to Acura System Updates" "it is recommended to perform updates via Wireless connection...some updates may not be available via USB. No place to click or continue.

Indeed - three typed pages worth!

I didn't see any reference to fixing the "System Function Unavailable" error message in the HUD, though.

But it is done.👍

While there are nuanced differences in the two dominant smartphone platforms, competition and rapid update cycles have kept them very close in performance and features. The problem with switching isn’t that one of them is objectively better; it’s that each of them is part of an ecosystem of related devices and applications, making changing a major pain.

“Countermeasure for system freeze on the boot up animation screen where it could become stuck for up
to 30 minutes after ignition off.”

What do they mean by “countermeasure”? All the other issues are described as fixes.

Also, the first time this happened to me, before the three-finger reboot was discovered, my screen stayed on all night and zeroed out the battery. What’s the deal with the “up to 30 minutes”?

I got a chance to play around after the updates tonight. USB audio is much better now. Before the update the system had problem advancing from one track to the next or read my playlist. It stuck with one track and I can’t move to the next using the control on the steering wheel. I had to manually select a playlist or song to play it. Also the response and TTI is much smoother now.

Next up is the Nav, BT audio and SiriusXM.

Never mind...

We have a snitch! lol.
I believe that someone/a team is reading this and most likely other forums, so they removed the developer options, or they changed the way to get to it.
Hope that the 3-finger salute for rebooting the system is still there.

The 3-finger salute is still there. I used it to check the “boot loader”. I started with 1.0.4 and my boot loader still shows 1.0.4. I asked the tech expert at the dealership and he checked a recent car that had 1.1.2 installed from the factory and it had a boot loader of 1.1.2.

I am am wondering if mismatches like this may cause problems down the road.

The fix list could be better organized by listing fixed issues by category e.g. Audio, Navigation, Apple Carplay, etc.

Anyway, it is interesting to see "• Navigation routing guidance avoids the use of alleys when possible" . On my way back to Los Angeles from Las Vegas, when I was at 210 and I-15, I was changing the Navigation option between shortest distance and fastest time and for whatever reason, it took me to an alley next to railroad that is about 1/2 mile north of the major freeway I-10, which I normally take. It was around noon and I was going at the right direction, but my wife did not like the look of the area, so she used google map from her phone to take us to I-10. I was wondering about what had happened and since then I always double-check the route before I start. Now I know that this was a bug!

Got email / Installed Update

Like many here, I saw email and jumped into car in the garage and did the update. didn't time it but is was somewhere in the 10-15 minute range.

the screen rebooted twice *swirly dots" and then it gave me the blue screen of lawyers - then bingo, all seems good.

BTW - not necessarily the right place for this but I was irritated that I could not reorganize CARPLAY icons in RDX like I an in wife's 17 Pilot (touchscreen)
- just found out you can arrange via your phone in SETTINGS
-- GENERAL
--- CARPLAY
----ACURA ... takes you to a screen that you can move icons around

YMMV

I had a similar experience years ago with a Garmin stand-alone GPS. We were heading "out east" by way of Chicago and had opted not to use the Damn Ryan Expressway, but we needed to get over to I-90. So the GPS "helpfully" tried to route us through South Chicago on surface streets. I politely declined the offer. It was probably set to "shortest distance" routing somehow, but I was a lot more careful to vet its "suggestions" after that.

BTW, I got the e-mail, but the update is MIA via WiFi. Whine.
