Homelink universal transceiver problem

Did anybody had problems with homelink universal transceiver? My system suddenly failed, first by opening the garage door only partially, then by stopping working completely. All my attempts of restarting and reprogramming homelink buttons didn’t succed, no any light flicking, no any button becoming active. Any experiences to share? Thanks.

Does the opener work with other transmitters?

Did you happen to put LED light bulbs in your garage or garage opener? I did that years ago and it caused all kinds of interference with the garage openers from working correctly. Just another thing to cross off the list.

I put special LED Bulbs in the opener. Genie sells them specifcally for GDO and I have not had a problem with using them.

Yes, it works fine with the GLA 250 and the handheld remote.

That’s interesting. Yes, we’ve recently put the LED bulb in the dining room within a short distance from the garage door. I’ll disable it and see if anything changes, Thanks!

Yes, many of the early LED bulbs caused interference with the signal from the remote to the opener. It seems that quite a few of the latest LED bulbs don't cause that issue anymore. I got some from Home Depot and they work just fine in my openers.

If the standard remotes still work fine then the issue points to the Homelink in the car.

I managed to revive the Homelink Transceiver. The secret appeared to be in bringing back the orange control light. Once you get it, the rest is by the book. It emerged almost by accident through my numerous attempts of repositioning the car in front of the garage. The cause of sudden homelink loss remains unclear.

IIRC, touching and holding two buttons clears something.

Homelink in the RDX works better than it did in my GLC300. Not one single issue so far.

Yes...if you hold down the two outside buttons for about 30 seconds, it clears and resets the Homelink in the car.

Same here, except I don't have the GLC. Works better than my last 2 vehicles. If there's nothing in the way blocking signals (like a tall truck/van) it will open my garage from about a block away.

Madd Dog-I am not sure if that's the case, but an accidental holding of two buttons at once might've been the cause. The leftmost button under our mirror is somewhat rigid, which could've caused me touching the next neighbor, and basically hitting the two together.

I see, thanks. That makes my theory of two buttons pushed at ones by accident (an earlier response to Madd Dog's good comment) , basically obsolete .
