Every company has their thing...like was said...you don't have to buy it if you don't want to. There are other options.

It's like Spectrum, they want to rent you "their" modem for WiFi. I chose to buy my own modem as a one-time purchase and avoid Spectrum's always increasing modem rental charge. To repeat, I'm a small pup running with the big dogs when is comes to dash cams. I feel I have learned enough from this thread alone to buy and install my own dash cam. I'm going with the BlackVue DR900S-2CH bundled package (which includes "their" overpriced SD card) because I'm new at this. My personal thanks to all the Big Dawgs that have contributed and shared their knowledge.

Happy to help if you run into issues. PM me and I’ll share my cell with you. Buy fuse taps and either the Power Magic Pro or the back up battery option.

@securityguy You were 100% right. This BlackVue 900 is amazing. Pretty easy to get it into the 2019 RDX, and the results are spectacular. The attached screenshot is reduced so you don't get the full clarity, but it's amazing. Damn thing takes up a lot of storage though, the little 16Gb card that came with it only holds a couple of hours worth of 2 camera video. I have a 128Gb card on the way.

So again, THANKS!! You certainly know your dash cams!

I've got my BlackVue DR900S-2CH completely installed up to the point where the Rear Camera Connection Cable goes into the hatch area. How do you snake the cable to where it is in my photo below to the hinge and beyond? I'd like to remove the plastic pieces in the tailgate, including the hinge plastic piece, so that I can continue to snake the Rear Camera Connection Cable to the Rear Camera itself. I am unsure of how to remove these pieces and don't want to break anything. Would anyone who's done this have any procedure or photos to show how to remove them? Please advise. Thank you.

Question for the blackvue owners. What app are you using to watch live feed or saved recordings?

Sorry for the delay in response. Check out this picture. It shows the panel you can easily pop off with the Blackvue tool that came with your camera. There are clips that will not break holding this panel in. This panel includes the big hinge cover. Once you get it off, you will see how easy it will be to route the wire from where you have it, up the hinge, and to the camera location.

Thanks. I guess I was trying to avoid having to pay a subscription monthly fee to watch live feed, saved recordings, etc. I see they have the free version but seems rather limited.

obliio 98,

I can release the clips on the piece you mentioned with the BlackVue panel puller tool. I'm stalled out on how to remove the plastic button that holds it onto the hinge. Is there any secret or hint on how to remove this button? Please advise. Thank you.

Did you try prying it gently with a flat head screwdriver?

Yes, I tried to gently pry the button off. I even tried using two panel puller tools, but No Joy. This button is pretty stubborn. I don't want to yank it off and destroy it. Please advise. Thank you.

Here's why I don't remember it.....I never saw it! When I popped the cover panel off, it just came off without resistance. When I put it back, I never looked on that side, so obviously I never put it back, and it's not there! LOL

It must be in my trunk pocket somewhere. There's a circle there, but no cap and there's nothing exposed except the surface of the blue tape I used, so I'm not too worried.

Honestly, that panel just popped off in my hands.

If you break it it can’t be expensive to replace. It’s only a plastic button. Go for it!

Thanks for the update. We are sharing information and learning about our beloved RDX's in real time. There's a plastic button lost somewhere in the cavernous space of your cargo area. I hope you can find it and return it home safe and sound.

I'm starting to formulate some options:

1) Continue to work with the panel puller tool to remove the button.
2) Pull the entire plastic piece off like oblio98 did and hope the plastic button comes off.
3) If 2) and 3) fail, then security guys' option: Go for it! I could always order a new plastic button from the dealership. It's only money.

Stay tuned...

Mission Accomplished. The installation of my BlackVue 900S-2CH is complete.

oblio98,

Your were correct. Once I got that big plastic piece that covers the hinge off, I was easily able to snake the Rear Camera Cable. I fished it from the interior of the cabin, bundled up the excess, and connected it to the Rear Camera.

security guy,

We regret to inform you one plastic button was killed in the installation of this dash cam. I hope the dealership can get/order me a new one.

Thank you gentlemen. Its been a pleasure serving with you.

@EXCALIBUR1 Good Job!

I too will eventually get that clip replaced, but honestly there is no rattle or noise from it not being there - so no stress. In my case I will wait for warmer temperatures!

Glad to hear it all worked out.

PS - I think "securityguy" should get a commission from BlackVue. He's a good salesman!

Update: John and Shane of the Parts Dept. at Acura of Honolulu ordered a new clip for me. I had previously referred to it as a button. It arrived in two days. Exemplary service and delivery. The part number is: 90667-S0D-003ZH. I hope you will be able to get a new clip for your ride soon. My 2019 Acura RDX is like new again. The BlackVue 900S-2CH is operating 5 x 5. Let's stay safe and video protected out there.

You'll crimp the fuse taps only wire to red/yellow, and black is ground which you'll want to connect to a bolt on the frame like I've done.

My dashcam has two cables (red = trigger/yellow = constant). When ignition is turned on it'll exit out of parking mode (red wire). What keeps the camera on constantly is the yellow cable. Be sure to check your dashcam hardwire kit manual to see what you need to do.

Just wondering what size of wrench to loosen up the screw to slip in the ground cable connection, tks

A 10mm socket wrench will work.

you really don't need to unscrew the existing nut, just find new one which fit on top.

No, I used a 10mm socket and socket wrench. An adjustable crescent wrench would work, but a socket wrench is easier. Just keep calm an return fire. Good luck.

I used a Blendmount to hold a Blackvue dashcam instead of sticking it on the glass: https://acurazine.com/forums/acura-i...g-soon-971397/. This is a 2016 ILX. Most likely the Blendmount would also work with the 2019 RDX.

I checked out Blendmount to see what they had for a 2019 RDX. They show nothing. Here's what comes up when you enter this car:

Year: 2019
Make: ACURA
Model: RDX
Trim: BASE, TECHNOLOGY, A-SPEC , ADVANCE

BlendMount Series: N/A
BlendMount Mirror ID:
Rear View Mirror Style: INCOMPATIBLE
Steering Wheel: LEFT HAND DRIVE

The supplied sticker will NOT fall off. It is designed to be mounted to glass and can withstand high heat and very low temps. I have had mine on my Audi for well over a year and I can assure you it will be a PITA to get it off if I wanted to remove it. Do not be afraid to use the material supplied with your dash cam...far better and cheaper than the Blendmount.
