I have the Blackvue DR750S and it is awesome. The only two dash cam manufacturers I recommend are Blackvue and Thinkware. Great prices and customer service from www.thedashcamstore.com
Street Guardian - you will not find better support from any other manufacturer. I'm currently running both the SG9663DC and SGGCx2PRO - both are dual cam (front and rear) and I've not seen anything with better video quality.
Check out www.dashcamtalk.com for objective reviews of just about any worthwhile dash cam made today. Site also has a very knowledgeable and helpful user forum as well.
Is hardwiring a dashcam to the 19 RDX difficult? I just put a BlackVue 900 1ch in my truck and am thinking I may want one in the RDX as well. The truck was super easy with just two fuse taps and a ground.
@OliveBread how did you run the power wire from behind the mirror up to the headliner? Looking for a stealthy way to hide that wire inside that cavity that houses the camera but not sure how to get that black cover off and don't want to break it. Any inside pics or detail would be great.

It's pretty hard to see on the inside and outside.
I just pushed it in the crack between the main mirror and the headliner. It just fit without needing anything, pushed up up in the headliner (easily) along the windshield, took off the weather stripping and then went along the A-pillar and down. I didn't need to take off the A-Pillar cover because it's just one wire, and it didn't seem to get in the way of the airbag system. Then there's a hole at the bottom where you can thread the wire through to the fuse box area.
Thanks for the added pics. I was hoping to hide it in the camera housing versus running it up along the side but yours does look nice! In my Audi, I was able to snap off that housing cover and notch a groove for the wire to get through and it looks sweet...hoping to do the same here if someone can help me determine how to get it off without damaging it.
I think it is pretty low hanging fruit for Acura to build in the dash cam functionality from the hardware they already have on the car. Camera, even wifi connection. All they need is software and maybe a slot for a memory card. Control through the infotainment system. Many dash cams are adding things like lane keep assist, collision warning, why can't car manufacturers build this in as a feature.

Unfortunately, mostly due to the range of local laws regarding recording... some people just don't want to be on camera.
Side note. It's a good idea to invest in a good camera with parking mode.
Here's why. A guy backed up so hard into my unoccupied and parked RDX's bumper that it cracked and scraped it pretty good. Luckily my cam caught his plate and his insurance paid to repair and fix it completely, and also cover a diminished value claim.
Had I not had this footage and cam... it would have dinged my insurance premiums and such.

I just had a Thinkware FA200 two channel (front / rear) camera with hardwire kit installed in my wife's 2019 RDX last week. Purchased on Amazon. I wasn't comfortable routing wires around the airbags, so I had a local shop do the install. The front camera is completely hidden behind the rear view mirror. Wires are routed through the mirror mount opening up to the headliner (see pic below). The rear camera is visible but small.
Our 2016 Odyssey was recently totaled by an inattentive driver. She lied to her insurance about what happened. Fortunately the police report was accurate and fully assigned blame to her. We don't want to be in that situation again. Dashcams seem like a good investment, especially given the number of people driving around staring at their phones these days...
Also like to know where in the fuse box that the fuse tap connected too, picture would be nice, thanks, just wanna make sure exactly like in the diagram someone posted it in here..
Hey there, could I ask how you learned what to do? Is there a step-by-step video specifically for the 2019 RDX out there? I've never hardwired a dash cam before, and not sure where to start. I'm a little hesitant to use videos for other cars, just because the RDX seems to have so many technological features and things going on, I'm afraid of messing something up.
I am an EE and have been playing with and installing things in cars since I was 14. Always came easy to me and I never take my car to a “professional” since they’ll never do as good a job as I will. I have all the tools and equipment to do anything to any car. There are no books on specific cars unless you are doing a stereo replacement and buy your equipment through Crutchfield.
It is a lot easier then most folks think but many are afraid just to try. Nothing to disassemble and you only need a basic understanding of a cars electrical system to get it done right. Happy to help anyone via phone that’s interested in tackling a project like this. I also hardwire my radar detectors too...same principal as the dash cam install.

You'll need to get yourself a low profile mini fuse tap from Amazon or eBay. Take out the original fuse (see post below on which fuses to use). The original fuse you take out should go into the slot closest to the prongs on the fuse tap, and the 2amp (brown fuse) or 3amp fuse (violet) should go into the slot closest to the wire that comes out of the fuse tap.
You'll crimp the fuse taps only wire to red/yellow, and black is ground which you'll want to connect to a bolt on the frame like I've done.
My dashcam has two cables (red = trigger/yellow = constant). When ignition is turned on it'll exit out of parking mode (red wire). What keeps the camera on constantly is the yellow cable. Be sure to check your dashcam hardwire kit manual to see what you need to do.

Here's the best picture I could get of the wire as it enters the mirror mount. I could have done it myself... not sure it would have been better than the work done by the owner at Fyne Tuned in Cincinnati in under an hour for a very reasonable price.
What did he have to do and remove to get that cable up behind the mirror and out to the headliner so it could be routed to the fuse box? He had to have removed that plastic cover behind the mirror and I am trying to determine how to get it off without breaking it. I am very anal about how I wire cars and like for as much of it to be hidden as possible as I did when I installed mine in my Audi and my wife's old Forester. If you know, or can get an answer, that would be great. Thanks again!
The installer and I discussed the possibility of notching the mirror mount cover near the window to provide a path for wire routing. I wanted to avoid anything permanent like that, no matter how small. I asked him to try to remove the center panel of the mirror mount cover instead. I didn't actually watch the work being done, but it looks like he was successful.
I just got an Escort M1 add-on camera for my Radar Detector. It attaches to the bracket. It's not fancy or anything like those listed above, but for $199 and no actual installation needed, it's pretty nice. I only have had it for one day, but it hooks up to my iPhone very well.
The negative points are since it attaches to the Radar Detector bracket, you pretty much have to remove the bracket from the windshield every time you park the car to keep it from being noticed and having your windows broken. It obviously does not look back, and it only takes a 32Gb card. However, the picture is nice, a very wide angle view. When I get some data I can post a screen shot or two if anyone cares.
It is so easy to install a unit that hooks up to your fuse box, for about the same money, why not buy a much higher quality unit that is permanently installed and hard wired and call it a day? I am sorry, but that set-up would drive me crazy and is far from ideal.

But then you have a permanently installed camera in the car which is a potential target for theft/break-in. I liked this setup because with one move the whole thing can come down and be stashed so there's nothing visible to entice passers by.
To each their own but I haven't heard of folks breaking into cars to steal dash cams. Have been hardwiring stuff in cars forever and never an issue. I think you are making yourself more "scared" than you need to be but your call my friend. Just giving you what I think is a far better option. The dash cams can also be easily unmounted and taken in the house if you wish (press a small button on the mounting bracket and the camera comes right out of its mount and simply unplug the power cable...done...BAM! Research it a bit and you may find yourself changing your mind.
