Possible Images of Next Gen MDX and TLX Found on RDX SystemUI.apk
Mods forgive me for posting this on the RDX page, it is related since I was looking around in the RDX files on the headunit
I was digging around images in the com.android.systemui package located on the RDX, loaded it into android developer toolkit, and low and behold, they have had images of the unreleased 2021 MDX on our RDX this whole time.
It is definitely different then what is currently released, and it fits the look of what they have leaked so far but with covers over the car.
I do not think Acura meant for any of us to see this quite yet. Feast your eyes on the 2021 MDX, you are the first to see it, sorry to spoil the fun Acura...
Also I can tell some of the new features that are possibly going to be released from other images in this file.
As far as the TLX images I believe these are new, more to come...

Appears to be the new TLX ???
What this means is acura is invested in this software for this headunit, so continues updates look like a very possible thing for us on the RDX.

Wow, that is a lot of drive modes.. love the ambient lighting. Not sure what happened to the ambient lighting in the RDX when even the 2018 ILX had it.
The stretched and flatter front on the MDX basically confirms the images.

From what it looks like these are the images that will be used for the vehicles infotainment centers settings possibly? Like changing drive modes and stuff

Looks promising but Acura is so late to the game...

The 2021 MDX has the front third of a 10th Accord or Mazda CX-9 and a rear two-thirds of a 4th CR-V. It's not a very coherent design in my useless opinion.

Better late than never. I welcome these changes as I’ve been a long time Honda/Acura enthusiast.....since 1993. The last 10-15 years have been pretty damn dead so its nice to see the engineers being able to stretch their legs once again instead of the bean counters running the full show.

Hang on a minute...
That's not the 2020 MDX. The 2020 is a carryover of the 2019 based on the TQI procedures for the 2020 MDX that were released via TSB's 19-036 through 19-039 on July 2.

The images in this thread may be of 2021 year-model vehicles that won't go on sale until sometime in 2020.

To the original poster, RDX.God, I’m not sure if you work for Honda or contracted by Honda but if you are, you better hope they don’t find out who you are as publicly posting internal documents, pictures etc etc will get you terminated if you’re an employee and/or get the company you’re contracted by in a bunch of legal trouble. I work for a large Japanese automotive company and I don’t share internal information with anyone. I also urge people NOT TO repost these pics anywhere else as doing do can actually hurt the Acura brand by letting other competing brands know their plans which can potentially cost Honda/Acura millions in redevelopment. I know we all get excited over this kinda of stuff but future models are kept in camo and internal information is internal for a reason. I STRONGLY urge Acurazine moderators to remove this entire post.

Future Apple products are occasionally "leaked" in this manner as well.
I STRONGLY suggest that Acurazine staff allow this thread to stand. The OP is simply sharing images that were included with the vehicle he purchased - he didn't hack into Honda R&D's servers and "steal" the images.
News of this thread has already made it to Reddit and the images have been saved.

This thread has made it on to car and drivers FB page!
Those pictures definitely look like the real deal to me, especially with that camo MDX prototypes hood. It definitely commands more road presence now than the current MDX. Looks A LOT like a CX9 though, that was my first thought and I see a couple others agree with me. My biggest concern is that with the hood being so long, it will mean a cramped interior but it seems they squared off the back so it might be even roomier.
Nice to see they FINALLY put in a digital dash. I also appreciate that they moved the cupholders to the right and moved the touchpad to the right and forward making it more ergonomic. The ambient lighting should have been there 5 years ago but nice to see they finally added more.
The one thing I'm curious about is that "Lift" setting in the display. Does that mean the MDX is getting factory air suspension?!

Welll... Honda appears to be the one who "leaked internal documents" by including them with the OP's vehicle.

I took a wild guess that there may be some images in there. I was mainly looking for a way to change the background color, which is also based off of an image in that APK, and I did NOT expect to come across renderings of their other vehicles. I imagine Acura is testing out or using the same software for their other vehicles, so simply setting some variable would change the images to the correct car, but looks like someone didn't filter out those images for what was released into actual customers vehicles.
This brings another question, how secure are cars now days?

that is 100% correct. I did not hack anything, I do not work for Acura or Honda, and I am not a contractor. I simply figured out how to look at files on the RDX using an android ADB connection, which Acura did a very poor job of hiding. Acura also included the images of their unreleased vehicles in the RDX software, and anyone who were to go download that SystemUI.apk and open it up in Android Developer Tookkit, which you could do right now, I have instructions posted here: https://acurazine.com/forums/third-g...-d-wip-980772/ and then do an ADB pull command on the SystemUi.apk, could of come across this.

Thank for posting and thanks for your ability to even find this stuff. Another level of smart...than me!
I had to bring up a photo of the 2019 MDX and place side-by-side to really get an appreciation for it's looks...whatever year it may or may not end up being....but looks sharp. I would like to agree with the comment "Acura is invested in this software for this headunit...." but it's hard to find inspiration in their handling of the current RDX software with what I think is two updates in the year since release.

It's now on Carscoops.com and Motor1.com as well and is being shared on Facebook groups. Congratulations, @rdx.god. You're a celebrity and someone just clocked out for the last time at Acura today. Unfortunately, media outlets continue to propagate that these may be 2020 year models when, in fact, they aren't. The 2020 TLX has been on Acura's website for months and the 2020 MDX is a carryover of the 2019.
