New to this forum, but I am trying to install a Pioneer double din using a metra wiring harness(2006 Acura TL Non-Nav) but for some reason the radio will not power up. Has anyone else had this problem when installing an after market radio, and if so can someone direct me to some possible solutions. THanks

my bad didn't really read your post yesterday usually if you install a aftermarket radio in it doesn't power up you have to twist the red and yellow wires together..all 4 of them...

Woah do not do this. Bad advice unless you want to short things out.

Red is switched ignition power, yellow is constant power. Not sure what these other 2 wires he is taking about are. Black is ground. Verify with a meter or 12v light you have power on each wire it should. Switched and constant. And make sure the ground is good.

whoa learn how to install radios ruzzle I've installed at least 50-100radios maybe 20 total in all my cars every time it doesn't turn on you connect the red 2 red yellow to yellow and twist them all together...and you're right it's constant power meaning you won't lose all your memory settings every time you turn it off...especially with pioneer I still have to do my audio settings every single time I got in the car there's even certain settings on pioneer that you could only do with the radio powered off holding down the sequence of different buttons...you can try it yourself or pay custom sounds $100 to twist them together for you your call...

Dude, I have been installing stereos for 25 years and I have a degree in electronics engineering. You Never should have to tie those wires together. If you do them something isn't wired right period. I have never come across this on any car I have owned or done for people. Stereo will only turn on when ignition is switched on and that is what the red to red wire is for. Yellow is for memory as you stated but only for that. If you use it for both you are routing power back through the system into the ignition which is not good period. Just use the yellow wire by itself and that's all you need with the red and yellow from the stereo itself. Maybe this is what you were explaining but you didn't go into detail. You will always have to remember to turn off the radio each time as it won't turn off with the car any more wiring it this way. Just do not hook up the red wire in the car side to anything and leave it disconnected as if you do you will have some electrical issues. Either way you should never have to hook it up this way unless something is not wired right period.

Not my car. My Camry is my car. The MDX got replaced by the Altima (paid off car now). Mine won't be replaced till I get a job and we move with a truck. That is a ways off for now.

So who is interested in doing the Twisted Sister's cruise?

I need to know who is actually interested in going, do not want the meet to be a bust.

Hello all, I have family coming into town this month and we'll be taking a road trip to SA and staying on the Riverwalk. Any quick suggestions on some good eats and places to visit while in town.

Thanks in advance!

Blue Star and pearl areas (downtown basically) are nice with a lot of food to choose from. I would eat everything on the river walk so you can't go wrong down there

I know of a great Italian place but it's about 25 min from downtown

Riverwalk area is very easy to navigate and most of the food is pretty good, really depends on your budget. If someone falls into the riverwalk just yell at them to stand up!!

Across from the BlueStar brewery complex is La Tuna and you can also tour the King William District. Beautiful historic homes that are still used from the 1800's. If you make it to the Bluestar complex be sure to visit 1919, pre Prohibition style drinks and atmosphere. It's my favorite place to unwind after a hectic week at work or if the wife and I are having a downtown date night. If the local guys ever want meet downtown we should go there!!

Pearl Complex has La Gloria, Green, etc.

What kind of activities are your family interested in? Age groups? Most of the downtown activities revolve around food, booze, and historic sites.

There is always the San Antonio Missions to visit if your into that kind of thing.

If you go to 1919 try the Irish car bombs. I was drunk but I remember they make them differently and they are delicious.

Awesome thank you for the suggestions I'll look those places up. It'll be my parents and sister so tours, food, and booze is what they'll probably like.

Sounds like we need to go there again...for science. I forget the beer....but the whiskey is infused with sweet potatoes and cinnamon in it! The drinks are very strong they are designed to be sipped...

Also try out the Menger bar at the Menger Hotel, classy and reasonably priced!
Pat O'Briens is fun when they have a dueling pianos.
Have fun walking around the Riverwalk! Let us know what you liked and didn't like!

To bad nightmare on Grayson shutdown... you could try http://www.13thfloorsanantonio.com/

looks.

The TL isn't a fast car to begin with. Make it look presentable before you put engine mods on it.

Dang, flew out here to Hawaii last weekend on some vacation/Air Force business. Government is now shut down, I'm on indefinite furlough and stuck here until my return flight next weekend. Could be worse!

I still have the Teins and EDFC in the trunk and hoping I could get them put on before the meets. I hope I can make it to the Twisted Sisters run.

Jeremy, I was thinking of trying to knock it out this weekend. Just the belt and pump though so it's not an all day thing. I can do the rest throughout the week little by little. I've got a fridge full of beer and can grill up some grub for afterwards if you're gonna be in town. Lmk

Edit: Sunday works too.

If our house wasn't forsale or it sold already, I wouldn't mind having you guys use our garage with all the air tools, and lights, epoxy flooring, etc. Sucks that I can't do much myself in the garage as the house has been showing almost every day right now especially weekends.
