Ralph. if u can see some camber in ur tires, then u'll need a camber kit forsure. or if u want, u can leave it like that but ur tire will get inner wear faster.

if ur not gonna get a camber kit, then there isn't really any need to get alignment done right away. They can pretty much do nothing about camber, unless u have the kit.

so if ur not gonna get a camber kit, dont get alignment unless ur car doesnt drive straight.

Oh and Firestone sucks. They have never gotten a single alignment right, specially if u have a lifetime alignment, because then the mechanics will want u to keep coming back so they can keep getting paid on it, again and again.
I had that warranty on my previous car, my brother's car, and a few other friends had it. No one ever got their alignment right. It would work fine after we left the shop, but with a few days, it was back to what it was.

I have new shocks and springs in my closet but all of this talking is making me nervous and want to change my mind about going lower. I just had to buy 4 new tires because my alignmeny was off in the rear and damaged my tires.

When are we getting together again ? I missed this past weekend and it sounds like I didn't miss much, but I would like us to put something together that's has plenty of parking and maybe not too far west. Maybe a photo shoot too !

Anytime you change the ride height on the car, you need to get an alignment. Lowing the car, or adjusting the height through the suspension changes the suspension geometry. The most notable problem is the Toe angle. Bad Toe alignment will eat up tires quick.

So, it is important to get an alignment no matter what. The Toe must be corrected after lowering, both front AND rear.

For a 3G TL, it is a good idea to get a camber kit for the rear. 3G's have had problems with rear alignment due to the suspension. Lowing can accelerate or increase this issue, that's why I recommend to get a good rear camber kit like Ingalls. That way the Toe AND Camber can be adjusted for the rear. A little negative camber is OK, but too much will wear tires faster than normal. Still bad camber will not wear tires like bad toe, way out of spec toe is like saying by by to your tires.

Lowering a car is no problem if you do it right the first time. I've had my 3G dropped the first week I owned it. 40K later I've had no issues. I also get non-direction tires so I can do a modified X tire rotation.

Also doing it right means having people like C&C work on your car. There is no comparison between places like C&C and Firestone, ect.

Yeah but lowering a car doesn't change ur toe, only camber.

I'll double check soon.

Nope, lowering does change the toe.

When you change the height, the susp geometry changes which includes toe angles.

Depends on how much you plan to drop it or how particular you are about the alignment settings. 1.50" or so drop, a front camber kit is not needed.

I'm dropped about 1.75" without a front camber kit, and I'm fine. My front camber is right at the factory tolerance on the negative side. I have an Ingalls camber kit on the rear set to almost match the front camber.

I am planning to use h&r sport springs. 1.4F and 1.3R. Means I only need the rear correct?

Yep. You'll be fine without a front camber kit.

West side, Westheimer / Royal Oaks area. I can take a look at it and help you. But, I can't do it Friday, I could take a look at it on Friday though. I"m still moving and I have zero stuff at my place to work on cars. On a car like that I would rather take a look at it, then make a plan. I've worked on a few NSX's but's it's been all body / paint work. Removing the shock assembly should be pretty easy. But, I don't what parts you plan to install. Honestly my place might not be a good location to do the work, I can help though.

I'd like some help installing my new springs. I can bring food, drinks, chicks etc. Seriously though, I'll even shell out cash if required.

After I installed my springs, my alignment was waaaaay off, and while it was settling, I had the alignment done a few times. I always ask for the spec and sheet and go talk to the Tech. I know it's not optimal, but it's cheaper than paying full price for a full alignment. Plus I'm still on stock shocks, so new shocks will be happening soon.

I'm down for a meet once it's a little cooler.

Anybody going to Coffee and Cars this weekend?

What springs did you install? Did you get a camber kit? If not, do you have drastic tire wear in the rear? I am planning to
install h&r sport springs with a brand new set of oem shocks and I keep getting mixed responses on camber kits.

I might go to C&C with a friend and a couple of exotics.

if not, then I'll take my car. We can all roll together, but there might be no space to park out cars. Unless we get there super early.

Car and Coffee

September 4th, saturday morning at Uptown Park, we'll have to get there at about 7:30

Planet Zero Meet

Possibly Sep 19th or 26th, Saturday Night.
