'Official HOUSTON thread'
Thanks!
I drove that thing from high school until my junior year of college. Senior year, I had a newer Grand Cherokee and then, my TL. Jeeps are cheap to mod in comparison.
But... I will get around to modding the TL soon. I'm thinking mid-muffler delete first... then Type-S or A-Spec Springs and shocks... and some 18" wheels.

Holla in H-Town! This is Kristi, from downtown. I didn't yet read through all 10 pages, but I hope I can find some good tips on reputable mechanics around town. I used to (10 years ago) take my Honda to HondaAcura Repair, up off Bammel N. Houston, as I had a good friend who worked there. She moved away, though. So I'm in the market for a new shop.

I have a mechanic but he's one of those hole in the wall guys off of Bellaire and Hillcroft. I would only take it to him if I tell him what to change. Not very good at diagnosis. He does rebuild engines with his eyes closed. It also doesn't help that he speaks Spanish... and I don't.

He'll likely change the spark plugs when it comes time but for timing belt, water pump and valve adjustment, I might just pay out at a reputable dealership.
Kristi, depending on what you need done, I've had great service at the Sears Auto Center at Memorial City Mall. Very professional service crew. I had them do the fuel system service and the whole time, he had his shop rag out, wiping his finger prints off the paint and what not. They saw me looking and showed me the whole procedure. I just had the TL aligned there on Saturday. It took them about 30 minutes.
Well, we're near each other... I'm in Midtown.

Man thats a tuff one hopefully it will be a nice sunny day. Perhaps have it at double dave's pizza. I'm sure somebody will come up with a better place. If not we can always go to our usual spot at Memorial Park
Hi guys, I am Dennis and I recently joined this forum. I stay in Galveston but I frequent the Houston Area. It would be nice to have a meet so I can get to meet up with some of guys. Thanks to Dat Boi Ralph for pointing me to this thread.
Just bought an '05 TL and would like to meet fellow Acura owners. Any day sounds good to me!
Maybe one Saturday we could all go to the Coffee and Cars deal in Uptown. It's on the first Saturday of every month, from 8-11 AM.

Hey guys, I just relocated from Detroit to Houston, and am now living on the west side of town near I-10 and Beltway 8. I wanted to see if anyone can recommend a good Acura dealership for routine maintenance since my car is in need of an oil change after my cross country trip. John Eagle Acura (in Cinco Rancho) seems the closest to me.

seriously though, they suck. Sterling McCall Acura is where i go for my major maintenance. i deal with Beverly every time I'm there, just tell her that David S sent ya.
also, there is a shop called HCS (formerly Honda Car Shop) that apparently does pretty good work. (although i have never been there) i would also check them out.
Gillman is supposed to be good, but i haven't been there either.
oh yea, and welcome to houston!
