New Guy in DFW

Just picked up my NBP '04 TL on Thursday. Glad I found this site (still trying to navigate it - much different from the other forums I used to frequent). She's 100% stock, and I plan on keeping her that way (visually at least). I was big into modifying when I had my old Integra, but I think these TL's are perfect just the way they are. Visually, I think modifying (even with OEM Optional parts) just makes them look bad... Enough intro - on to the pics!

you don't think the a-spec lip kit looks good?? way better than stock imo... especially since you got the wing spoiler, it makes the car instantly look more "sportier" but it's missing a aggressive body style... that's where the a-spec kit fills in.

When I had my Integra (Flamenco Black Pearl), I had everything on it (Type R Spoiler+Front Lip+lowered cleanly) and I loved the way it looked. I just think IMO, that Acura got the TL spot-on just the way it is. I don't plan to make any kind of visual modifications, and maybe just an intake later on. It just has always looked absolutely perfect to me straight from the factory. Nothing against anyone who does mod their TL visually, of course, it's just not my cup of tea.

Well then, it's a good thing that you paid for your car, and I paid for mine lol. I just think that modifying a luxury sports sedan makes it look like some 16 year old kid owns it. They're perfect cars in their own right, and turn heads straight from the factory - no need putting big flashy bits of plastic and and chrome on them, OEM or otherwise. To me, the kit doesn't match properly, and doesn't flow well with the design of the car - like it was an after-thought derived from the RSX (which I think is more appropriate for). But again, different strokes. They're all the same car underneath.

I also had an Integra ('94 LS) before I got my TL. It was red when I got it. Within a few years it was so oxidized that it was basically pink, then I got a tastic paint job from Maaco that left it flaking and shit lol. I also modded it with a loud ass ricer exhaust, Type R spoiler, lowering springs, and a bunch of un-needed random shit. I grew out of it and for the last year I had it I turned it completely back to stock. Then I blew a head gasket and the repair bills were stacking up and I was like fuck it, time to upgrade.

And I know the TL is so beautiful stock and I also didn't want to touch it and make it ricey like I did my Integra. But if anything, at least consider adding the A-Spec body kit, it really does make it sportier/sexier looking WITHOUT the ricer look.

It seems to me that the A-Spec Body Kit is much like the JDM Front for the Integra's. Everyone got them, and then they weren't unique anymore. Everyone on the Integra forums always talked about JDM fronts and the Optional OEM Lip Kits. One thing I have considered is the A-Spec suspension. From what I've read, it only lowers it 3/4", but does help with the "floating" at highway speeds. Found some OEM kits on Ebay for about $630 shipped, so that might be an option down the road. The rear spoiler makes the car appear to sit up higher (in my oppinion), so maybe dropping it a little will help off-set that. Anybody have the A-Spec suspension, or know if you need a camber kit for it? Anybody got any good pics of it installed?

Take it from a guy that drives a fast luxury super sporty sedan... The A-spec body kit does not look like rice... I love that body style almost as much as I love my CTS-V body style! The aspec came oem on the 04 TL a-spec and has class for the adult in us but style and sportiness all the time! Like you said... its your car but don't down play the aspec kit as being a 16yr olds style..

Yeah..never once mentioned the word "rice" I hate that word - I'll let all the domestic drivers keep that word in their dictionary, along with 4-banger and Jap-Trap . I just said it doesn't look like it matches well, IMO. My wild-modifying-days of body kits, car-shaking sound systems and loud exhausts are over, but I still like mods - I just prefer the very subtle mods that not everyone recognizes - sleeper mods, if you will...

Probably the mods I'm looking into right now are:

1. Switchblade key
2. Auto-roll windows UP
3. Driverside key hole cover
4. Aspec suspension
5. J-pipe/exhaust (but really only if I could keep the stock tips and it sound close to stock)
6. Maybe some Type-S rims if I could find a good deal on them. Can't hurt to have a 2nd set of rims just in case.

I'm just all about subtly now.
