I happened to be in Austin last Saturday night and went to that meet. But just as I parked, cops shut it down. Bummer.

 

I post then I forget this forum is here. Might of had something to do with getting a new bike and being on those forums. What's new in the world of austin?

 

Hello, anyone know a reputable repair shop, prefer central Austin. I need new struts and a motor mount and do not have the space, tools, skill, etc to work on my car. I had a skilled Acura/Honda mech who worked on the side, but last time did not work out well.
Flamingo Auto is reliable but they wanted more $ than the dealer for some work I had last year. I hope to sell my CLS soon so don't want to spend a lot. thanks.

 

You might try McDavid Collision Center in NW Austin (address might be Cedar Park) and ask for Chad Beckley (512-258-8114) and he can help you out at rates less than the main Acura dealer. I was able to talk him down on price and I'm sure you can too.

Another shop in Austin is Rebreu, located at Kramer/Lamar intersection, but they are more body/frame but they do have guys who do engine work and priced fair. Ask for Jim and see what he says, overly honest manager and fair, Phone: 512-836-4498

Lastly, here's a site that has a variety of local performance shops you might consider, although mostly geared towards classics, so read the fine print before you call and they laugh at you

South 1st Performance Automotive is a good one I've heard feedback on, but can't speak on many others listed.

My name is Marlon, and I am moving to Austin from Houston next month due to a new job. im excited, so far I liked what I have seen of Austin. but I dont know anyone. I dont have any friends or family living there so it would be great to meet new friends with a common interest.

anyone up for getting a group together for the Leander Car Show this Sunday 09/01? The meet runs from 11-2, however most people start showing up at 9:00. This event (formerly Cars&Coffee before a dispute split them) is a casual monthly meet held the first Sunday of each month in the Leander Old Town Square. This is extremely well attended by a wide range of cars, old/new, domestic/import and all are welcome.

I'd recommend showing up by 9:00 - 9:30 to get a space as it fills up fast. Good for families, as they usually have live music, food, coffee shops nearby, etc.

Nah, it was my dream car in high-school.. so when I got a lil' money from some VMware stock I bought it and put some sleeper mods in for performance and audio sound quality. I've had it about, oh I guess 6-7 years now?

Nah, I'm a cloud solutions architect. Previously I was an SE at Dell, VMware, and a few others.

 

Unfortunately I'll be heading back to College Station for school and whatnot or else I'd attend. It sounds like a lot of fun though! Maybe next time I'll be in town for it!

Im in fort hood area and I would love to meet people with experience working on acuras because I want to do some mods but I really dont trust the shops around here.
