Sounds like you're screwed. How long has it been since your last ATF change? More than likely your old fluid was thick with clutch material.

do you have a 2nd gen or 3rd gen TL? Did they do a 3x3 or just a single drain & fill?

Mojofo...Were you on Bagdad yesterday afternoon going twards 1431?

For you guys who want to get together...I go to the 183A and 1431 meet around 7ish then head up to the ricer meet at Lakeline across from the applebys in the Golds gym parking lot about 10ish about every Saturday night.

Vu...You know you want to go? Stop making excuses that its to far!!!

I had my tranny fluid changed and it took a dump about 3k after McDavid did it. Always happens after that.

Not sure, I havent contacted them since, I will go there today and talk to em. Looking at other user's post it looks like gonna cost over 4000$ to get it fixed, if I pay 100% of the bill. I dont know if they will do any goodwill.

I really need someone in Austin who can do this for me less expensive, be it an individual or smaller reputable shops.

Call Mark Santella (5one2) 92four - SevenTwo11. His shops up in Hutto but he does damn good work and is very knowledgeable. Get a quote on an overhaul and an R&R.

Talk to David McDavid. My VIN was out of the range for the recall but They charged me 500.00 for a new one and gave me a 3 year 36 month warrenty. Good luck.

About a year and a half ago. Its still having problems the first time I drove it from the dealership. Waiting for it to die again. Going to have them change the tranny fluid and it will die again. Always does.

i talked to him earlier as you suggested. he said most job runs for 1500-1800$ I am considering that as a strong option. I am coming to his place tomorrow in person to talk to him. But since I am selling this after all this, I am also wondering how having it done at non-acura place will affect the selling price and likeability of selling etc. Not that I dont trust that place. Just for potential buyers.

hey majofo, i talked to him he was real nice, but i just decided to go ahead for dealer replacement this time. he said it might take 10 days to make it ready, also worried about unexpected problem jacking up his quote.
thanks for the info though.

I understand, many people feel better about the dealer warranty. I can guarantee that Mark does great work and does not jack up his prices. Mark is a honest guy who is very particular to the details and quality of his work and I wouldn't recommend him if he wasn't. If anything, his prices are too low. The last time he did work for me was to replace my front driveshafts. He charged me $130. I gave him an extra $50 for the work because I know, especially the driver's side, it can be a PITA to knock them out of hub and pry it out of the the transfer assembly. Mark's son works at the parts dept at Honda as well so there's no issue obtaining OE parts. The Master Techs at McDavid do good work, see if you can at least get one of the two to supervise the swap.

Yah, that is nice, but for major work like this I just wanted to have dealer do this. I would not mean he would jack up the price, but if unforeseen problem comes up, then it would not be due to him, that is what I concerned about. For smaller jobs and some maintenance works I would rather go to him, would he do anything other than tranny rebuild? His shop looked like it can do anything but name says tranny rebuilder.
