Actually look for a product called nLite. It automates it a bit.

If I get an intel tower when they are released...AND a copy of Windows Media Center OS......I can finally used the "TIVO" function on my XBOX360

pretty fricking sweet...not mention the gaming world just opened up on mac.

This is a surprising (business) move on Apple's part. The hack for dualbooting Windows onto a Mac prompted Apple to make their own official version, complete with hardware drivers. This will surely boost Apple sales and from now on, I guess all my future computer purchases will be macs.

This will give potential switchers to try out the Mac OS and learn from it without ditching the XP. and it'll let them see just how good OS X can be when compared to Windows

i like this comment from some blogger:

Here's what must be running to work in Windows on your Intel Mac:

* Antivirus
* Antipopup software
* Antispyware
* A software firewall
Congratulations. Have fun people.

This is quite exciting. The last Apple computer I had was a IIe. Might be time to get another Apple.

I don't think this justifies that kind of jump in the stock price. But only time will tell.

I think I would rather have an OS X with seamless integration with XP than having to dual boot. Basically I want the same kind of functionality OS/2 offered with Win 3.1.

werd

having to reboot is a PITA. Hopefully the 10.5 integration will provide that option to run in the OS X environment or reboot.

That would be the shizzle.

Anyone notice this blurb on the page:

EFI and BIOS

Macs use an ultra-modern industry standard technology called EFI to handle booting. Sadly, Windows XP, and even the upcoming Vista, are stuck in the 1980s with old-fashioned BIOS. But with Boot Camp, the Mac can operate smoothly in both centuries.

What a load of crap..

Apple simply bought this from two hackers who did this in a contest.

I bet Apple had this running the day they got the prototype motherboard for the first Intel Mac.

If Leopard does the integration (ala. OS/2 Win3.1) I will get an Intel mac. I'm due for a new PC anyway and I can hand down my G4 mini to my daughter.

How do you figure? This seems a bit mor advanced than what was brought to us from those programmers.

If there was a correlation, I'd assume Apple's implementation would work with the original hack. It does not.

Any proof?

No proof, sorry. I'm not that geeky.

No matter what, I'll probably get one simply because I like the hardware.. the dual core notebooks are the fastest out there.

Uh...

I have no idea if that's really the case, but this isn't a revolutionary technological achievement. It's a big deal because nobody thought Apple would ever endorse doing something like this.

I think its funny that people think that Apple had to buy a hack. Like Apple doesn't have developers, access to the source code of OS X, inside contacts at Intel/Microsoft, and the source code for the motherboard firmware.

I think they just were waiting to see what people on the outside could come up with and then them all.

That's pretty the $50 price for the released version is reasonable too.

Maybe a new iMac is in my future.

Damn, that is really flexible, I can't believe they have OS/2 and Intel Solaris running on that thing. Impressive.

Mossberg did a great write up today in the Wall Street Journal about how blazingly fast windows runs on the Mac, and how he installed 15 programs that ran flawlessly!! Its great because you just partition the hard drive and the virus bullshit that plagues the windows software is kept at bay, totally isolated from the OS X side. I am going to really consider getting an Imac soon. I've never used one, and now I have no excuse. Truly the best of both worlds. I will wait till the next version of Macs operating system late this year which will have the transition already in it, instead of going to boot camp and all, plus any bugs will be worked out by then!!

Plus I am so tired of this shitty Dell world. Speaking of Dell, this will hurt them so bad with so many people like me switching to Macs now!!
