Work phones/blackberries - AT&T

I was hoping to use my Verizon Storm on our work BB network, but that doesn't look like it will happen due to corporate policies. I really don't want a second phone, but I can't give up my Storm or Verizon (for contractual reasons and because most people we call are on Verizon).

There is a very slim chance that I could get an iphone, but I don't even want to get that idea in my head now.

So, what AT&T BB is king these days? Is something better coming out soon?

We have a corporate account with AT&T. And yes, the BB is the king. Plus Verizon is CDMA while ATT is not. They are not compatible networks (ie; ATT uses sim cards, Verizon does not)

I have this conversation with at least 2-3 sales reps a day.

However we do supply iPhones, but I wouldn't recommend getting one unless you like typing emails on a touch screen

I would think that the BB server could communicate with any BB phone, regardless of carrier.

BTW, the BB Storm is 3G and uses a sim card, though I think the 3G networks are still different.

It can, but try getting that past your IT team.

BES' don't discriminate as to what carrier is used....

can't you just ask your IT people to give you a BES password so you can setup your phone on your own?

Thanks. I'll see if that is an option and I'll keep an eye on what is coming out soon.

Yeah, they are being very anti-everything non-ATT. They won't even let us expense phone bills if they are non-ATT

I only have BIS now and won't upgrade unless I know for sure they will allow it. Right now it doesn't seem like they will.

but what i mean is that if you ask for an enterprise act. password yourself and setup the phone that way they likely won't know or check what carrier you're on.

Unless of course they use IT policies to block certain models.

And what I mean is that they won't give me the password. They program the phones and give them out. I wish I could do what you suggested, but it is extremely unlikely to happen.

I couldn't imagine an Enterprise admin just giving out the password.
