Question Windows XP SP3 install error...

So I've been trying to install SP3 on my MacBook running BootCamp and XP Pro.

Everytime I've tried to install SP3 I get the following error:

I have over 50GB of free hard disk space on the Windows installation drive so at least point I really don't know what I can do. Any tips?

I did a google search last week on the US google site and didn't find anything relating to this error. Searches change so quickly now it's crazy, I shoulda searched again before I posted.

While that fix may work, I don't see how Mac's use of EFI should affect a service pack install.

Could it be a BootCamp issue? Looking at the fix, it seems that the reason why it can't install SP3 is because it can't figure out where it's installing it esp since bootcamp manages the booting of the computer and the fix shown in the link is explicitliy telling the OS that the boot dir is the C drive.

Once the OS is running, isn't the boot environment (BIOS or EFI) pretty much done and over with from the OS's perspective? I mean hell, there's the standard SystemDrive and SystemRoot environment variables along with some registry entries that tell the OS where it's installed at. Is the SP3 installer too dumb to use those?

Windows is a one big error in itself. If my work appz didn't require this garbage I would of been on linux long time ago. How many of you signed on the XP petition? since SP3 is the last support for XP Microcrap will release.

We're still not rolling out SP3 at either of the places I work.. if it's pre-installed we leave it, but we're not pushing SP3 out to anyone yet.
