Have you tried to use XP for anything?? If you're a hardcore 98 user and you're used to it.. I think you will not like XP very much..
Feels too "cartoonish" for me.. and it tries to do stuff for you.. I am still on 98 on my PC.. and I am not planning on "upgrading" until I really have to..

XP does however have pretty good networking support..

Sorry, I don't have the upgrade.. I'm sure one of these guys will have it.. or you can download it yourself from just about any P2P..

if i were you, i wouldn't upgrade, i would do a clean install. also the copies that are flying on the net are going to be flagged by MS and you wont be able to recieve any future updates if SP1 is installed, that is really up to you and alot of people could care less about it. i had XP Corp, but i cant find it, if i do i'll PM you. also think about 2K, i like it more than XP...

i only thought to upgrade to XP cause my laptop gets stuck alot and shuts down, and my pc is also doin it with 98, and that was a clean instal of 98 after i had upgraded from 95 to 98 and then had a clean instal of 98 soon after. Iknow upgrades arent the best , but i dont want to lose all my meemmory on both computers, i have like 6 gigs on lapop and have no burner , and pc has like 10 gigs worth with a 40 gig hard drive. Anyone know what i should do,

Only the Pro version does.

If you never used XP, or W2K then stick to 98, or upgrade to W2k. I think of XP as the socker mom's version of Windows. It's really big, looks nice, has alot of "stupid features" for people who know nothing about computers, tries to automate "important" features etc, etc, etc. Gee, can you tell I don't like XP

Also XP is a pig. It needs alot of memory to run smooth. It's only ok with 64megs, happy with 128, but very happy with more then that. Check the specs of your laptop. For XP a clean install is the best way to install it. If you choose to do W2K then an upgrade would be ok. I have upgraded several 98 computers to W2K.

XP and 2000 are for totally different users. If you like the digital edge and want to create home flix and other digital media applications. GO XP! I personally used partition Magic and split my harddrive space and put XP and 2000 on the same PC. That scenario is better for the geeks out there (like my self). You use 2000 for development and running network setups, for security issues and all. Then use xp for all the other crap. Works out a lot better.

XP has some issues right now, and I would advise you to do a complete install if you have all your previous software. Otherwise if you upgrade make sure you are connected to the net, and upgrade most of your drivers. I still have not cracked the licensing issue by ms so i don't know if burning a copy of xp is valueable. There are promos to get xp upgrade for cheap on the net. Do a google search.
