first, update your flux capacitor drivers.

Then run the update again. It should work fine.

Have you been manually shutting off your Windows Services at all?

I know I shut off Windows XP's cryptological services (they are worthless and eat up RAM) and Windows Update threw a fit until I turned them back on.

I had something like that happen before. There were all kinds of suggestions in knowledge bases of deleting things from the registry. In the end I never got it working and rebuilt the machine.

Try the update again and then check the event viewer. (start, run, eventvwr.msc). Check logs for yellow or red marks.

My buddy is having the exact same problem. We tried un-installing it and re-installing but got denied again. He did a bunch of stuff and still couldn't get it to work.

Windows sucks.

So I got the same bunch of stupid errors and never had a problem in the past and all my stuff is legit. So I forgot about it until MS comes out with an update that actually works.

I had that problem a few weeks ago to... I just gave up and decided not to install it.

Interesting that turning off Norton allowed it to validate... maybe it's something Norton's doing to your computer? Like, try totally disabling Norton before you try to install? Just an idea... no clue if it works. That dallison thread the other day had me reminded that norton is de debil.
