Windows to Mac Network
If you can believe this, I want to add my Windows XP laptop to a MAC OS 9 network.
I would like to do transfer files from the laptop to the network in order to burn them to a cd.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

If you can move to OS X, that would make life a lot easier.
But if 9.x is your only option...
There are a few things you could do.
1) Get a simple FTP dameon running on the 9.x box and simply FTP into and and transfer the files that way. Not an elegant solution, but it'll work.
2) There is a program called DAVE, which was originally coded for the classic Mac OS platforms to allow interfacing with Winblows Peecees. I'm not sure where they are in the development process. With OS X now in the mainstream, an app. ike this isn't really necessary.
3) Get OS X and just use one of the built in transfer options, such as Samba.
Try one of these. If neither works, let me know and I'll think of something else.
www.versiontracker.com should be a good place to start for the software.

I've had to do this once long while before..
I think I used a programe called PC MacLAN or something..
Since it was easier for me to get Windows to talk to the Mac rather than the other way around..
Here is another website that might help you out..

Coming to a city near you
I was in the same boat as you, I needed to hook up my first windoze laptop to my mac and the offical way is to use that program called dave to regonize each other on the network. But if you are just looking to transfer files and have a highspeed internet connection I just used AIM and created two accounts. I transfered 1 gig of mp3 in only a couple of mins and I only had a 500k modem at the time.
