Why Verizon? Why?
Why Verizon? Why?
I dont understand how a cell phone carrier can limit their phones to absolutely nothing. I thought about switching to Verizon from T-Mobile, but when I realized how dumbed down their shitty sofware is, I'll never do it. (ie. they disable OBEX transfer via bluetooth) How are you supposed to get your pictures? Their software has complete control over any manufactor spec or feature. Dumb as hell.

i had verizon several years ago for almost 5 years. Then I switched to Cingular 2 years ago so I could get rollover minutes (went to China for about a year).
Verizon had better call quality, but they were more expensive and their customer service, which was once great, SUCKED by the time I switched.
As for the software, I think they do that to nickel&dime you for your money. I remember reading complaints about even bluetooth features being blocked which pissed off a lot of people who bought phones thinking they could use it with any headset, but couldn't because of the software block. This was around the time bluetooth started coming out.
But yeah, a lot of other companies do that. I have an unlimited blackberry plan with Cingular, and they block certain message services that can be used to send SMS messages over the data plan...SMS messages don't count towards "data" and are charged separetely so I had to get another package just for SMS messaging.
