Where's a good place (as in cheap) to buy software
I'm reaching out to the mighty brain trust of Acurazine for some help. I need to buy Microsoft Office Suite for the home computers. Can anyone recommend a good place to buy it at a reasonable price?
What specifically do you need?
You can get Office Home and Student 2007 - Excel, Word, Powerpoint and OneNote - from Amazon for $105.

Also if I were you I'd wait until the beginning of March cause MS is supposed to have a deal where if you buy office 2007 after march you can upgrade to the office 2010 version for free when it's released in June.

I've bought a lot of cheap software from http://www.buycheapsoftware.com/
Out of curiosity, who did you pay the $40 to? I've never heard of work-at-home rights being an optional a la carte purchase under any licensing agreement. It's usually everyone under an agreement is licensed for work-at-home or no one is. I work in higher education though so maybe things are different in the current incarnations of Microsoft's corporate licensing programs. Regardless, I just hope you didn't pay $40 to your employer for something that they already paid for.
There's always OpenOffice which is a great free alternative to Office. http://www.openoffice.org/

Here's one at 60 bucks for students.
All you need is find someone with an .edu email address or qualifying email address.

I've used this for years now and it works great. It has all the functions I've ever needed and even saves my work in MS file extensions.
