Whats the average cost of a black ink page on a HP printer
anyone have any clue at all, just printed out so much info for someone like 400 pages.
Depends how much you pay for paper and ink. There's a lot of variabilities here. Some people cheap out on their printer supplies, some people don't.
I think with my HP LaserJet printer at home I get about 5000 sheets/printing cartridge (~$100 retail) and I buy the actual HP paper which is about $8/ream (500 sheets). You do the actual math.

it all depends on the cartridge. the hp #45 cartridge gets 833 pages (quoted from hp) and costs 40$ CDN. that works out to .048$ per page. there are too many otehr inkjet cartridges to name, but it will be anywhere from .05-.1$ CDN. if you have a laser, there are too many to list and it will be around .02-.03 $ CDN a page.
If you have to ask, you probably can't afford it.
Seriously though, Ink jet or laser printer? That alone makes a hell of a lot of difference.
Not trying to hijack, but here is something of interest. I have my first "great" niece, and I have to admit, she is charming. She gets photographed more than the Resident of the united states. Dad has been bitching about the costs of repacing ink jet cartridges, so he bought a hypodermic color refill kit for about 25$, and asked me to try it for him (hey, he is 86!)
I was very skeptical about this, but followed the directions very closely, and it worked out quite well. We compared HP factory ink prints to the refil kit, and there was no difference as far as I am concerned, and in my job, I am very concerned about the qualities of color and gloss.
And with the amount of ink that is left, it looks like that $25 kit will replace about $400 to $600 in new cartridges.
My only regret? Not wearing the kit supplied plastic gloves.
My home needs are only for B&W, so I have a laser. But if I had to have color, refill is for me.

Sorry, should have included in the last post. Color computer printers are sold at a loss, because they make so much on replacement cartridges.
We did a study on this at work, and found out that ink jet printer ink costs the consumer someting like $10 per GRAM!

.15 per page as no one included maintenance on the printer itself.
If you run it off a copier it gets really cheap as some people get toner and maintenance included with a lease, making it about 3cents per page...
Charge them a dollar a sheet.
