What linux flavor to use?

I want to install a linux OS on my brother's computer. He never used linux before. What flavor do you guys recommend? I was thinking Redhat. Does anyone know of a website where it compares the linux flavors with screenshots and stuff?

Is your brother technically sound? Will this be used just for internet related stuff and nothing serious? I ask as linux is not the best thing for people who have no experience with other OS's. Try Linspire, formerly known as Lindows till M$ sued over the name. This is pretty simple from what I understand, but does lack some support for basic things, or so it did last I read.

I think SuSE is more user friendly than Red Hat, but I haven't looked at Fedora since the first release.

I'm installing Fedora right currently. I'm looking forward to learning a linux based OS.... So far, the installation has been wrinkle-free.

I run Mandrake on the server at work. I love it, and it's easy to use.

suse 9.3 is pretty easy, and will support most hardware ( the only problem I had was with my dell truemobile wireless card(broadcom))

Don't you have to pay for SuSe support?? Fedora support is free......

If you want support, yes.

red hat is most popular and relevant if you are planning on taking your experience into the real world(IT jobs). it also has the most support for it in terms of finding information on the internet. suse and fedora are popular amongst ethusiasts so that's why you see alot of people mention it on internet forums. mandrake has about 8 users i think...hehehehe j/k but there is a very small user base for that. if your brother is not technically sound or somewhat intelligent computer user then i would not recommend it as some things are not straight forward plug and play.

Most of the issues a home user would run into could be solved by a . Just stick with a major linux distro. I've always used one flavor of RedHat or another. I'm just too lazy to try others.
