I would go with an apple notebook. Im fed up with microsoft and Dell. I think the apple operating system is flawless with much less problems and crashes

Apple are great but you pay a premium for having an Apple. I bought a Dell, which I got for half price brand new from Dell -- $875. Woohoo!!! IMO, IBM makes the best PC-based laptops, but they're a bit more expensive. Check out www.techbargains.com for some good deals.

I don't know about IBM anymore. They just sold off their PC business to China. Hmm, maybe its better to call China for tech support instead of India?
Don't by a laptop based on what you can spend, buy it based on what you want it for.

Go to www.dell.com. Under Home systems, you will see a dell outlet icon. Click on that and you will find great deals. They are refurbished systems. Which means, a customer ordered it and cancelled before ship, customer turned it in for bad credit, or had a problem and returned it for a refund. No matter where it comes from, we test is for hours and replace any bad or slightly worn parts. I have ordered from Dell Outlet for all my friends and family and have never had a problem. FYI--I am a little biased, since I am a production manager for Dell.

IBM outsourced their manufacturing 6 years to a Asia, with a company called Foxconn. They just sold the entire thing as they were losing money. Dell is currently the only major computer company, that still produces systems in the US. We are even building a new plant in NC next year. You have to support a company that keeps jobs in the Americas.

I dont know, I am very cautious of Refurbished Products, I sell Refurbished phones at my cell phone store and out of every 5, one has at least a problem, but it depends, it usually the lower models, but I guess the refurbs do come with a higher warranty, but I think in the long run they wont last as long, so I would rather pay the extra $200-300 and have the sense of peace when buying such a expensive product.
Its just like a 2004 TL with only 10k miles, its been used very little, but its still been used even if it is pretty new
