What computers do you have?

I've come to the conclusion I have a computer graveyard.

I literally have over a dozen at this point. Plus a Macquarium.

I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Anyway between me and the wife, we have the following:

Acer Aspire laptop (hers)
Acer desktop (hers)
Custom gaming desktop (I built)
Mac Mini
Macbook Pro (just bought it)
Hackintosh in a G5 case (hers)
Linux server (for large files)
Panasonic Toughbook (I havent used it in a while)
iMac G3 (I play old games on it)
IBM PC Jr (identical to one i had as a kid)

Plus another 3 or 4 beige desktop boxes I got for free and have been parting out.

In my defense, I only have computers I actually use out in the living spaces, the rest are in a closet devoted to such junk

I just gave two old ones to the township for recycling a couple weeks ago.

I've only have a 24" imac, a G4 mini, an iPad, and my work laptop now.

Why the Apple hate? I'll save it for another thread but I just don't get the animosity people have towards Apple.

It's more tongue-in-cheek than anything else, Solid Snake...I don't HATE them per se. But, don't think they are as great as people think either. And I've done enough comparos at work for businesses to prove it to myself and my clients...

And as I do to amuse myself, I have made it a life's quest to forever find an alternative that is better and cheaper.

Before the defenders of Apple's Righteousness come in, none of my Sony products cost more than the comparable Apple product.

currently using an older Gateway (yes, I said Gateway ) 12" Tablet... I've been using tablets long before the iPad came along. I don't need anything fancy for web browsing. Tho if I get any more serious about photography then perhaps something more suited later (Mac or something).

Back in SoCal, I have a dead Dell laptop

I have...

Mac Mini (1 gen before current)
Dell PowerEdge 830 Server (bought new in 2005 and still use it today )
Older home-built AMD Based System that's collecting dust in the garage
Latest gen MacBook (though, it's provided by my work)
An older Dell Inspiron from 2005 or so...also collecting dust.

I used to have a ton of spare parts, but I've finally decided to let go of stuff. Less clutter is good.

That I still use daily:

Toshiba laptop
home built desktop
IBM Thinkpad T42

That I use once in a blue moon:

old Dell Dimension desktop that's running Ubuntu

That's sitting in a closet:

Apple IIc
Apple PowerBook 520
Apple Mac IIci

Gave away 2 other desktops a couple years ago because I was running out of room.

Thinking about getting a new 13" or 15" MacBook Pro.... but do I really need another pc?

Self-built i7 rig (Gaming rig / main computer)
Sony Vaio PCG-8X2L ( Huge screen, but clunky as hell so it's for the living room)
Asus Eee PC 1000HD ( Use it everyday on campus, it's a lifesaver)
7 year old Dell Desktop ( Missing a stick of RAM, I've been meaning to fix it up and make it a linux box but haven't had the time)

I'm hoping to build a media box as I get more money/ free time.

I think I give away about 10 computers a year now. The one old heap that was given to me that I have kept is a late 80's Toshiba T3200 portable computer. Pfft, you think your led/lcd displays are cool, I've got a orange gas plasma display.

http://www.computinghistory.org.uk/d...Toshiba-T3200/

It works perfectly too.

I rock the Dell Dimension box from 2006 with some upgrades. Dual Dell 20' screens are connected to it as its the computer I use 90% of the time. Both the PC and the screens been absolutely bullet-proof. Not a single mechanical issue. Came with XP, then had Vista, and now runs Windows 7 with no problems. Dell makes good stuff sometimes.

No, the guy that gave it to me was in real estate development at the time. It just has multiplan, works 2, and mavis beacon teaches typing. I got rid of all of my floppies years ago, besides, I doubt my dad's copy of 3deamon was still readable.

Home built AMD 64 Athlon X2 machine (Bought the CPU & MB from Smalls here on AZ)

Home built P3 system sitting in the corner collecting dust. Occasionally turn it on, still works.

Recently acquired my family's 10 year old E-machines AMD Athlon XP system that I overhauled three times in the time it's been here. It's been replaced by ZT systems AMD Phenom II Six-core processor desktop. Came with a 3 year warranty.

Mine:
Asus desktop with Intel core 2 quad 2.5ghz
1TB storage
8GB ram
running win7 home
custom case fans
Plans are for a better graphics card and CPU fan

Big step up from a crappy e-machine about a year and half ago.

As of now, just some home-built computer I bought from a friend of a friend. It needs a replacement, which I'm currently working on.

I'd just go to Best Buy or something and pick up a name brand, but I need something with a 1394 port, and those are incredibly hard to come by with PCs.... at least from what I've come across.

First Gen MacBook
ASUS Eee PC
Toshiba Satellite Laptop - Very old
Dell Latitude Laptop - Dead - I'll fix it eventually.

I got rid of all my old home built desktops and parts about a year ago and haven't looked back.
