vx6000 battery problem... wtf??

okay i'm kinda mad right now so bear with me...

for the past couple days, it seemed like my phone wasn't charging right. finally last nite the battery was pretty much dead, and i couldn't get it to charge at all (on the desktop charger). i started looking closely at the back of it (where it touches the charger) and i noticed that there's a ton of green corrosion all over one of those lil copper type things (sorry i don't know the terminology here!). so obviously that was preventing it from making contact and charging.

i took the battery off and couldn't see anything else wrong... even that lil red & white "water sensor" thing looked okay.

so this morning i took it into verizon and the guy took it in the back to look at it. half an hour later he comes back and says "your phone has water damage, that's what caused the corrosion." i just looked at him like he was crazy for a sec, because i've only had this phone 2 months and it has never even been NEAR water, rain, anything... i'm sooo careful with it. so i told him this, and he takes the battery off and shows me the water sensor, which miraculously, in the past half hour, HAS TURNED PINK. (keep in mind that i checked it last nite and it wasn't!!)

so at this point i was already a lil pissed... cuz somehow this idiot just fucked up my phone and is blaming me for it. then he hands it to me and i notice that there's these crazy scratches all over the lower part of my phone because he tried to sand off the corrosion. of course he did this without removing the battery from the phone, so there are 'sandpaper marks' all over the phone itself too.

i'm there staring at my mutilated phone, and he's like "so yea, you're gonna need to buy a new battery, they're $40."

i just got the hell out of there cuz i was sooo mad. it's basically a brand new phone that i've completely babied since the day i got it, and they're tellin me this is my fault? what do i do?? i really don't wanna go back in there and argue with them more cuz i hate confrontation like that.

Getting a new battery is good (props to Berner for that)...but I would demand a new phone. Usually the stores can't really help you out. I would call customer service and talk to someone. If you explain to them (really you need to bitch them out ) then sometimes they will do somthing for you. It's happened to me before and I got credit towards a new phone. I wouldn't settle for a scratched up (possibly damaged more from the rep) phone.

Good luck!

They sell full housings now on ebay. Its kind of a PITA to put it on though. Search lg.howardforums.com for "vx6000 full housing" and the instructions are there
