Hi guys, I need some advice on this issue. I'm currently under the family plan. Now that our contract has been expired, so we are thinking of getting a new phone. Also, I would like to add my gf into our family plan, if it's even possible. I just have no idea.
Just went this local korean cell phone store to ask some questions and this lady said in order to get the Droid X under the family plan, I would have to pay like $360 and get $100 rebate or something. I basically have zero idea how much these new smartphone go for, so I'm trying to get some insights from you guys. Both my gf and I would like to get Droid X or the upcoming Fascinate and my dad, mom, and my little cousion would like to get a non-smart phone that's basically cheap and great.
What should I do?
Just FYI,
Our current family plan:
dad - crap phone
mom - crap phone
little cousin - crap phone
me - Blackberry curve with data plan
my gf has a crap lg dare from 2 years ago.

Who is the main line on the share plan? That line should be eligible for the NE2 discount which is either 50 or 100 bucks off and there may be rebates on some phones as well that can stack. Can't remember right off hand.
I tend to get much better deals through verizonwireless.com than the stores but if you have problems or need to swap something, the store is no help, you still have to deal with the website/tele-sales.
Heads up on phones for your parents, you have to get the low end phones if you want to avoid the 9.99 data package BS charge. You can browse the website and right there in the description see whether it requires one.
And FYI, if you are thinking about the Droid X then the data package price on those is $30 each on top of the regular bill.

^ Thanks. I think my dad is the main line.
I'll check out its website to see which phone my parents should get. I didn't know they charge data package for non-smart phones.. weirdos.
I think I've paying like $20 for my shitty BB data package. So, I guess $30 for Droid isn't bad.
Thanks alot.
I remember some AZ members in LA work at Verizon stores.. hope they can help me out with this crap! Why is this cell phone contract crap so complicated??

eat before you talk dumbass
why can't i be on my parent's plan? i pay the whole thing. it saves substantial amount of money just by getting all hooked on one family plan. we live only an hour away.
and like i don't know that it's not a good idea for my gf to be on my parents plan?
i know its ramblings, so if you are bored and have nothing to do, you can post any dumb shit out of your ass. but at least give me some answers to my questions too while you are at it.

For a family plan, it's a maximum of 5lines under one name if I remember correctly, and you pay $10 each for the 3rd, 4th and 5th line.
There shouldn't be any problem adding the gf under your parents name as long as her current contract has expired.
DON'T go to a Korean shop hyung. They used to give out good deals but not any more. I used to feel somewhat obliged to give my business to a Korean shop but now they charge wayyyyy too much.
Droid X is 200 at any Verizon store after a 100 mail in rebate, which means you have to pay 300 up front. or you can get it from amazon like I did for 180 with no rebate and no tax.
http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/s...planfamily.jsp
here's the family plans available from verizon
so if you get the 2000min plan with text, it'd be 129.99 + 10 * 3 for 3 extra lines, + 30*2 for the droid x data plans for you and your gf which comes to 220 + tax so I'd say like 240/month??

Jinu, which korean store did you go to?
That's fucking ridiculous for them to charge you more than what verizon is charging you.
I'm guessing that you are going to stay with verizon? I went to a story too, but they didn't had driod x yet.
I'm going with att next week to get an iphone with my gf.... I looked at bunch other phones but nothing caught my eye.
