Since you are in NY...I would HIGHLY recommend Cingular. You will be glad you have it. I'm currently with T-Mobile...everywhere I go I get signal but for the East Coast guys and gals, Cingular is the way to go for GSM providers.

I don't even know where a T-Mobile store is, but I can point out about 20 Cingular. Plus, the coverage on the east coast is damn good. I have great coverage with my V400.

T-Mobile. I had Sprint and was gonna switch to Cingular until my boy told me about this one T-Mobile store. They gave me a free unlocked Motorola V3 Razr and the plan was $39.99 1000 "Whenever" minutes, free nights, weekends, and roaming. Just check the T-Mobile website and put in the addresses of where you're at and it'll show how much coverage they have in that area. Plus free roaming, so even more coverage.

i had tmobile in westchester and everyone knows that in westchester the only thing that really works is verizon.

i cant say anything for cing cause i haven't tried it, but my friends "claim" they get great service but they drop calls ALLL the time in nashville and run into dead areas all the time

with verizon i have never had a problem and cant recall once in nashville that i didn't have service.

also, even when i went to bonnaroo i was the only one that didn't have cell problems 24/7 (though i think that might have been because around here way more people have cing then verizon and the circits might have been filled)

edit: back to the topic, i was way way more satisfied with tmobile then verizon in terms of billing, web site access to information and phones. but i will stick with verizon because service is the deciding factor for me

I'm in So Cal and I've never had a problem with Cingular. I travel to Las Vegas and Phoenix frequently and still no problems. Never had T-Mobil so its not fair for me to compare.

I signed another 12 months contract with T-mobile after having their service for last 3 years. I love it. Their customer service is always up to my par, phones are great too. I got Samsung D500 and it's awesome. Highly recommend it!

For all you East and West Coast people, specifically California and NY...I would recommend Cingular. T-Mobile shares towers with Cingular in California and NY so you get the benefit of 850 + 1900. T-Mobile users benefit from their coverage mainly in the Central areas of the U.S as well as big cities. In the southeastern states, again, Cingular does a great job for coverage.

have you considered the Limited Promotional Plan?

Nationwide 1000 Minutes / Unlimited N&W - $45.99

For Bang for the buck, that plan kills any other plan at that price range!

Use this to see if coverage is good in your area.
