Sprint users: MotoQ or 8703e?
Sprint users: MotoQ or 8703e?
I'm moving back to the States soon and I cant use my JDM phone
So, I'm looking for a new phone. I'm stuck with sprint, and I'm looking for a PDA phone.
The Moto Q is 99bucks after rebates at their site (250 after instant rebates). Has Windows Mobile and bluetooth and seems like a good deal.
The 8703e is pretty much the same price (but 200 after instant rebates, you know how long it takes to get your rebate back
), but no Windows. I've never used a Blackberry so I have no idea how their user interface is, but a lot of people have it so it cant be that bad right?
Anywho, just wanted your impressions. Thanks in advance.

I have the black motoQ on verizon and I've been pretty happy with it thus far. I used to (well I still do) have a treo 650 with sprint, and that was a decent phone too. Have you looked into any of the palm devices?
I've got the PPC-6700
My only huge complaint is the reception sucks and when you hit the power button all it does is put it into a sleep mode. My friend has the Cingular version running Windows Mobile but his phone actually fully powers down when you hit the power button so it must be a phone feature not related to the OS.
Everything else about the phone I like very much, the sync with outlook is a huge plus, the keyboards makes for great and easy text message and quick note taking, camera is decent for quick little shots.

But the fact that the new samsung pocket pc phone is out is going to hurt the sales of the phone that I have. It's been out for some time now for at least a year. Don't know how long they plan on keeping the 6700 around, but I would imagine they are working on the replacement for it.
I really wish nextel had a phone like the one I have, I'd switch back in a heartbeat. My reception and customer service experiences with Sprint haven't been very nice. I loved the response and class of the nextel customer service. In my six months with Sprint, I've had more issues with my bill than I ever had with Nextel in my 3+ years with them. Oh well, at least they fix the problems after some explaining. Just last week I had to correct my bill because I was double charged for the month of January. I called them up, exlained it to the CS rep, she said no, it's done right, you're being billed fine. I said, no i'm not. Look at my January and february bill, you'll see i'm being billed for January twice. She kept insisting I was wrong then put me on hold for 5 minutes and I was hung up/cut off from the call. So I called back, spoke with another rep that also kept insisting I was wrong. So I walked her through my January Bill, then my February Bill and pointed out that it specifically is charging me for the month of january in both bills even though I already paid for january the month before. Then she's like "OHHHH!"

150 is about as I'll spend. And I'm re-thinking about the whole smart-phone thing b/c its 40bucks/month for 40MB/month. I'll have the internet at home and wireless connection anywhere on campus so I may just get a normal phone.

the service for phones is called power vision, or vision pack. there are different levels.
I have the power vision pack which normally runs $15/mo. However, I'm only paying $10 for it.

There's a different option for cell phones called power vision and there are two others.
Oh and whatever phone you decide to get, be sure to check out eBay, you can find em sometimes pretty cheap on there.
This guy:
http://cgi.ebay.com/SPRINT-PPC6700-P...QQcmdZViewItem
is offering the 6700 phone for $0.99 w/activation!!! he's also got 100% feedback rating. You never know what you'll find on ebay.

Depends how you intend to use it.
I just picked up the 8703e. For business use, (i.e. integration with exchange, stability, etc) there is no better. But I'm guessing it probably doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the Mot.

thanks for the link but I already have a Sprint number unfortunately. And I'm glad I was looking at the wrong page. if its 15bucks/month, I can afford it
. But I'm still debating if I will NEED the internet on my phone while I'm in grad school with a campus that has wireless connection anywhere. But, I do like the schedulers and whatnot my Clie had.

I'm sure its awesome for business use. I won't need all the bells and whistles, I just looked at the Q b/c it was cheaper than the 8703e.
man, I just wish I could unlock my W-CDMA phone....

I didn't ask for anything, he offered it to me. I don't know what it was, or what he did, but I now have the reduced rate and still have the highest plan. Remember that and try calling in a few months after you get it and see if you can ask for the reduced rate for the $15/mo plan.
$15 is still cheap though. its about 6000yen (50bucks) over here.

I've actually had really good luck in the past receiving rebates in full, weeks before I expected them.
