Sprint EVDO!

Sprint EVDO!
I've been online since UNDERGROUND in Penn Station (NYC) all the way into Albany. My connection dropped ONCE for about 30 seconds.
If you don't know the route, it gets pretty rural (and scenic) for a good hour and a half inbetween cities.
Kudos Sprint.

This is pretty impressive because my cable at home is in the same 700-1000k range.
In 1xRTT territory (non-EVDO) I've gotten between 60-90k, not lighting fast, but with compression enabled you can get around the web at a decent clip. It's still better than dial-up.

I'm on Verizon.
My phone (XV6700, same as sprints PPC6700) says its on the EVDO network when tethered over USB cable, but I cant seem to get anywhere near 200K or more. This happens out in the suburbs, and in the city(only tried once in the city).
Its as if I'm always in 1XRTT reaching speeds of ~60K-80K.
Thanks for that link ricecake. There was also a review on Verizon's expensive ass EVDO, but I didnt see any concrete numbers for the Dallas area. I'll have to try again next time I'm in the city.

This will give you an idea of where the technology is heading. Right now, the networks are operating on Rev 0 with Rev A and Rev B to follow. In just a few short years before long, high speed wireless will be a reality for everyone everywhere on every device. Next comes all the fun stuff! This is the CDMA evolution; not even sure what GSM has.
