Speed Dial Trick (iPhone)

I didn't know if the iPhone had speed dial capabilities as I never bothered to try it so after some digging, I couldn't find it but I found this interesting method of adding speed dial:

http://www.appleiphonereview.com/iph...s-home-screen/

Supposedly it doesn't require you to jailbreak your phone. Basically, following the directions provided on that page, the app will add an icon to your phone which will be tied to a contact. if you want to call that person, just click on that icon. voila!

Have any of you guys heard of or tried this?

Might be faster to save the contact to your favorites. A lot cleaner too since I try to keep the icons on my home screen at a minimum.

That's what I do. Double-click home button...press contacts name...Done

That's what I do now, but for cars that come equipped with recognizing who you have in your speed dial (like the new TL, or at least I think it recognizes what's in your speed dial), unfortunately, the iphone fails. I know this doesn't relate to the original topic of the thread, but thought I'd share the topic anyway.

Im sorry, if I am reading this correctly, you are saying that by adding icons to the home screen which makes it like speed dial, the TL will recognize it? If that is the case, would this really work? I am assuming the car just holds down the "2" key or whatever and uses the speed dial that way. This wouldn't work with the icon thing, would it?

Besides, my '05 TL just let you dial by the name so I dont know what would be so different in the new TL. Do you just say call speed dial one or whatever?

Again, just curious and not trying to bash you
