And no, it does not hurt my feelings. But, if you want to think that way to make you feel better, then okay.

From IGN...
Sony has posted a massive net loss of $2.03 billion (£1.28 billion) during its third financial quarter, October to December.
The figure is based on its total revenue of $23.37 billion (£14.7 billion), which is down 17.4% on the same period last year. This leaves Sony facing its fourth consecutive year of making a loss. The figures are even more troublesome when you realise that they contain sales from the normally lucrative Christmas period.
Sony's Consumer Products and Services division, which houses all things PlayStation, fared little better, posting a loss of $1.09 billion (£ 688 million) for the quarter. This is despite actual sales of the PS3 being up year-on-year. 6.5 million consoles were sold between October and December, which is 200,000 more than in the same period a year ago.
Similarly, software sales for the PS3 increased: 66.2 million units were sold, a rise of 13% on last year. PSP and PS2, however, continued to decline, as you would expect.
No figures for its newest hardware, PS Vita, were given.
So what's Sony's explanation for these worrying figures? Well, it has several. Sony cited "deterioration in market conditions" and "unfavourable foreign exchange rates". It also highlighted the terrible floods that devastated Thailand (and much of Sony's manufacturing) as another factor.
Sony rose to dominance within the world of consumer electronics by making innovative products: in the eighties, it was the Walkman; in the nineties, it was the PlayStation. But in recent years, competitors have often outstripped the company in terms of innovation. Samsung arguably makes better televisions, and Apple makes more desirable products. So where does Sony go from here?
We already know. Yesterday IGN reported that Kaz Hirai had been appointed as Sony's new CEO. Hirai was integral in the development of the PlayStation brand, one of Sony's last great success stories, and presumably the hope is that he will be able to reproduce that innovation across the company's range of products and services.
On the plus side for Kaz, it's pretty easy to improve things from where they stand now, right?

Surprised you could even type to make this thread. I heard that finger tendons don't work after slicing your wrists.
DS/3DS out selling it like 3 or 2 to 1

If not for PS3 and Blu ray, SONY would be a complete "has been".
I don't think we will ever see the SONY of the 80's or even 90's ever again.
So many other mfg have completely passed them by.

Probably not selling as well as hoped. Still, it's a slick portable console (the Vita)...Probably getting one for my b-day.

But, I did buy the Z laptop with my tech allowance last year to prove a point with colleagues who were raving about their Macs. My laptop was cheaper, faster, lighter, and well, better.
Carbonfiber FTW...They conceded I had proven my point and STFU whenever I was round for meetings with it.
Too bad it killed kittens.

I think the PS3 is the last Sony anything I'll buy. I'm not happy with my PS3 gaming experience for the games I play versus their Xbox iterations. There really isn't anything Sony that I don't own that I desire except maybe Bluray discs.
I bought my Z literally a couple weeks after they scored theirs. Mine has a SSD hard drive, i7 processor, carbon-fiber exterior, and is so light, that a twig like me can lift it without breaking a sweat.
Explain the FTL here other than the fact it says "SONY" on the machine.

My little machine is still faster then their Macs. Better processor and HD...still not happy? Okay um, I won't count my Blu-Ray disc drive...THERE! Fair fight? Fair enough? Or okay, sorry...you know what? Here: They have superior machines, what am I thinking? I should resign my post here in IT strategy and procurement and just hang it up because I have no idea what I'm talking about!
There! You win!
And this, people, is why I cannot stand Apple people. Sorry, jupes...love you...but, when it comes to your amazing product, you can't take it when an alternative is better. Like, really?
Really? You made it? You helped Stevejus Jobs design it?
Seriously. What's so smug about owning a stupid smartphone and computer that at the end of the day does the same thing as the rest of the market abeit differently in some areas?
Oh sorry, back to slapstick.

And talk about thread hijack...
Sony is in trouble. Period. Got a giant $$$$$ hole to dig out of.
If we need an Apple versus the World thread, start one. But, let's move on. I'm never going to change minds here.

Until you post specs per specs, I'll cry

I've heard people bitch and bitch about the price differences with Mac's and PC's. I looked at a lot of PC "clones" of the MBA just before Christmas, listening all of the Apple Haters that they can get the same thing cheaper. I looked at Sony, Acer, Samsung, whoever makes a MBA "clone" every one of the PC "clones" were more than the MBA, that I got for $1050. 4GB 128gSSD
So you keep putting them down and
with a 2k 13"Sony laptop. And you think you mother over paid for a Sony TV.

Don't need another thread, I'm just posting back at you and your Sony Credit Card. Not looking to change minds. Just messing with you for your blind devotion to Sony as you do with people who use Apple.

Again, we all bought our machines at around the same time (budget/expense period)...and the Z came out faster overall. They paid $2400 for their machines. Mine was $2100.
So, unless Canada prices stuff differently, Apple products usually are a few bucks more than the closest direct competitor in the laptop market. We even have that written down in our recent hardware evaluation (and no, I did not write it or influence that report).
Didn't say you were comparing MBA. Said I was because people crying that Mac too much money, but same item as PC cost more than what I was able to buy. And when looking at comparo's pricing pretty much average out.
But you keep that Sony CF going
vtech kickng in YO !!
