Like the title says I've been having problems connecting to xbox live with either a ethernet cable or over wifi

Before I would restart the router and it would be good. Now that doesnt even work. On the xbox when I go to test connection, it checks three things.

First if i'm connected to a network, then if it is connected to the internet, then tries to connect to xbox live.

It says i'm connected to a network & the internet, but it won't connect to xbox live.

Any suggestions?

 

Turn on UPnP or manually open the ports on your router and either assign a DHCP reservation for the 360 in the router or assign a static IP to the 360 but if you do static make sure it's outside of the DHCP range to prevent any potential conflicts.

Xbox LIVE requires the following ports to be open:

Port 88 (UDP)

Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)

Port 53 (UDP and TCP)

Port 80 (TCP)
