I gues there is the option of going and buying XP, but would it work on a machine as old as mine?
XP works on my crappy 600MHz Athlon with 512 MB of SDRAM. And yes my machine is a POS. I hate it. It's so slow at everything. It was slow with win98, and it's slow now. And just try running MATLAB on a machine like that! Makes me wish I never bothered with AMD. Maybe theyr'e better now, but the old ones sure aren't. I can only afford used machines so I'm probably gonna get a machine that's ~2GHz in the near future. And it will be Intel based after my bad experience.

Its crappy because your using an old ass Athlon. I'm currently using a P3 and its a pos to, but thats because its 3 years old =P If your motherboards socket is Socket A then you can still upgrade to a more current processor.

I just have my doubts that AMD are good for hardcore math calculations.
