Score a 17" Compaq monitor cheap!

Hey guys....Sorry if this is a repost, and those who know me know Im not bullshitting on this....I just picked up two flat screen ( not the real thin monitors,) Compaq FS7550 17" monitor for $40 at Staples--They retail for $350 bucks

Info is here:
http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/mess...eyword1=compaq

Basically, You price match at Staples with this web site listed in the link, and below:

Price match here: http://www.compuvest.com

Search for and then you use Compaq's mail in rebate ( $150)

Rebate Form:

http://products.hp-at-home.com/offer..._bundle_us.pdf

and you get the monitor basically free...

Staples matches any websites price as long as the website has the monitor in stock....Bring along Staples 110% Price match policy which you can print out from their web page

http://www.staples.com/help/default.asp?area=protection

--It was great , I got no flak whatsoever--Until after the transaction was complete and the rebate coupons started printing out!!! Too late!

And the price match policy worked against them BIG TIME!

I love it!

Monitors come w/ JBL speakers as well--they are decent!

Good Luck!

Seriously, do it! I was so shocked that it worked! But their policy works against them....Just make sure you print out the ad from Compuvest--Staples may or may not try and call them to verify that they are for real so they will need the number...

Good luck! And do, do it quick- before Staples shuts this down

YES!!! THANK YOU!

dont you mean 140$ each?
Nope...Go to Staples--Monitors are $350
Bring the Compuvest ad which has 'em for $160

You pay $144 --> 184 ( depends on if Staples is smart enough to charge you shipping when they <b>price match</b>)

Then you send in the $150 rebate form

So at the most, this would cost you is $40 some odd dollars

So if Compuvest has them for 160, why dont you just get it from them, and use the 150 rebate ?

It'll cost you $10

wouldn't the folks receiving the Compaq rebate form figure out that you paid only $144? And they're cutting you a check for $150? I'm really doubting this will work because you have to send in a receit stating how much you paid.

And since my corp has the fatwallet link blocked, could you tell me the specific model number for that Compaq monitor? thanks...

The odds are they'll send you the rebate for $144. Don't forget you also have to factor in your local tax... plus they'll probably want to match with shipping costs as well.....

i'm not sure if compuvest is an authorized dealer. plus if you get it at staples, anything wrong, you can still take it back.

but i think this is a 1/address deal. unless you ahve somewhere else you can have the rebate sent to. write down your neighbor's address w/ your name. so if you neighbor got your mail, they'll probably give it to you. unless they are tricks and hate you.

NYKEEROCKA - yes.. you have to mail it in.. however, I'm not worried about it. The Staples computer showed I was eligible for the rebate and even printed out the form on the receipt!! Worst case scenerio.. I'll sell it for $200 or so... no biggie

Chinisimo - I read all of the fine print on the rebate form and it does not say any limit one per address or anything. What it says (over and over) is that you need the original receipt and bar code for EACH qualifying product. No joke... the word "each" is capitalized... so it sounds like you can do several.. as long as you have the documentation, you should be good.... I'm probably going to buy another one on Saturday if my wife approves....

Just went to Staples and got it...

Came out to 190 and change, because the guy charged for overnight shipping ...other then that it went pretty smoothly, except that the guy lied at first and said he didnt have internet access to check the overnight shipping price...

Still cheap though...hopefully there will be no problems with the rebate

Thanks so much for sharing this info. Knowledge is Power. Unfortunately, I cannot get into the compuvest site right now. I'll try later. I personally don't need a 17" monitor, but I'm sure a friend somewhere might.
