The t629 has a longer battery time than t809 but the screen res. is lower.
I havent seen the t629 in person so cant tell but I'm a big fan of the t809 and I think the screen looks great, dont know if i would want to go down on that..

See this side by side comparison at Phonescoop;

http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/com...%5D=&id%5B%5D=

If link does not bring it, go to Phones, Compare Phones and put these two models in.

The reviews from that site say that the Samsung would turn off by itself all the time.

Is that true?

i like it so far...i originally wanted to get the T809 but this is suppose to be the replacement for it...i haven't bought my mini sd yet so i haven't been able to load it up with mp3's...i haven't had any issues with it turning itself off but as far as the battery life...it's like any other phone...the more features..the faster the battery dies...so far iv'e been charging it like every 3 days or so...i keep it charged when in my car using bluetooth...

Excellent choice. I gave my parents my Sammy D807, which is the same phone with a different shell from Cingular.

Do you guys know if the Samsung can take the beating?

I used to have a Nokia. I dropped it and the screen cracked and the back cover was flying all over the place. But... after I put everything back, the Nokia kept on ticking with no problem at all... except only half of the screen was working.

My Sony Erission took the beating very well too. I dropped it and parts were flying all over the place, and I dropped it under water too. After I put everything back and dried it. It worked without problem.

You are correct, but internally they are the same. Main differences are the type of camera and casing.

Yeah, it can take a beating. I have dropped my phone soooo many times on the concrete. Still works just like new... I have the T809 BTW.
