Replacing Canon LCD screen?
Replacing Canon LCD screen?
Hey my gf broke her almost new canon digital camera's screen and i was wondering if it could be replaced for less then a new camera. It is a powershot 4 meg or something. Nothing real special but i was wondering if any of you guys have found yourself in a similar situation Thanks
My guess is probably not worth the cost to replace the screen.
Might as well buy a new camera.......this is why extended warranties are a good idea for portable electronics.

My brother dropped his Canon S70 (it was in a camera bag too) and broke the flash and bent the corner. He sent it back to Canon and they charged a $158 flat fix fee (you pay to send it to them, but the $158 includes them shipping it back to you). So, depending on how much the camera costs now, it might be worth it.
I would assume for you, it would also cost $158.
Oh yeah, it was also less than 1 year old....

i just replaced an LCD on a canon SD300... the screen cost 54$ from canon... its actually a sony lcd.. i did it for trancemission on this board.. he rolled over on his camera and cracked the screen... i took it apart and the lcd is held on by a ribbon... no solder needed... it was funny because we went to best buy, and the first guy said the lcd alone would cost 100, next guy said 150, then last guy was like its gonna cost 300$ for an lcd.. i was like b/s... he called canon and got it shipped to his house within days... i popped it in in about a half hour...
extended warranty will not cover physical damage to the equipment.. he had that on his camera but since u could see the run lines in the LCD, they said it was personal damage... the only way they will cover is if the lcd doesn't turn on, and there is no physical damage to the unit (looks like it was dropped) ... we tried and even tried to talk to managers at best buy.. no good..
