Recommended phones that synch with Outlook

So I am looking to purchase a new phone that will synch with my Outlook at work. I need to receive email and have my calendar available at all times.

What do people recommend? I would love to get the Blackberry Pearl or 8830, but I wouldn't have access to my calendar, which is pretty important to me.

I would also love a built in camera, but I guess it's not necessary.

I've also looked at the Verizon Moto Q 9M, Tmobile Dash (probably won't get) and the Treos...but I would love to have something smaller than a treo so it fits nicely in my pocket. Like I said before, the blackberry pearl sized ones would be great.

Let me know what you guys recommend. Thanks!

I am currently on the Verizon network, but I would be willing to pay to opt of my contract if I find a good phone thru a different network.

why wouldn't you be able to sync your calendar with the blackberries?

I have a 8100 currently and it syncs the calendar fine with my outlook at work (I'm on BIS). If your company has the enterprise service, it can sync calendar and emails wirelessly.

That's exactly the problem. My company does not have the Blackberry Enterprise Server, so I'm screwed...and they don't plan on getting it anytime soon either.

In that case, wouldn't it be best to ask your company what would work with their system?

My company used to support blackberries, and still does for the few remaining holdouts, but they switched over to treos, and are now phasing those out for the HTC phones.

I don't know how the treo's synced, but I don't think it was "pushed" to the phone like the blackberries, it may be periodically polled.

Looks like my old smartphone...As I said, you can sync it to outlook and USB, but it won't be live. That runs Windows Mobile....To get live e-mail with that, your IT dept will need to use Exchange's active sync.

Yep, that won't be a problem. I have already spoken to some of our IT guys because I want it to sync live.

I've been doing some research on different carriers and it looks like Verizon has the best for speed and TMobile is just ok. I'm just wondering if there is really a huge difference that I will notice the lag. I would not be using it to download stuff, etc...

Man, I really want to find something soon since my days are getting busier.

My new Mogul is pretty decent sized. About the same size as that tbmobile phone a few posts before mine. In fact that tmobile phone I think was manufactured by HTC which is the same manufacturer of the Mogul The giveaway is the keybaords are nearly identical.

If anyone is upgrading to a newer smartphone and is interested in letting theirs go. I am willing to trade up my old TSX Underspoiler Kit for a smartphone. I also have plastics/parts from my 2003 Honda CBR 600RR (Black).

Details are in this thread:

I'm personally waiting for Verizon to release the HTC 6800 which is known as the Mogul. Sprint already released it a few months ago, but the new tentative date is Oct. 15

If this really comes out on Oct. 15th, I could wait for this phone. It looks awesome!

From this site, it says the release date is September 2007.

Most companies don't let you do it without IT regulation, you have to be careful because e-mail on their servers belongs to the complany. You could get in trouble

that's what I do - I don't sync anything wirelessly, I just d/l my e-mail & calendar to my 8125, which is exactly & all that I need. I actually had the internet completely disabled on my account just in case I hit a button & turned it on (which has happened), so my IT guy at work set it up & everything's been great since

BTW, my 8125 on Cingular was $75 + shipping. I'm cheap like that.

I sync my Nokia 6682 (free with new Cingular contract in 2006; I switched from T-mobile who gave me my 3650 free two years earlier) with Outlook with Nokia's better-than-average PC Suite. It lets you choose what to sync, and you can even sync alternate (not default) folders. So you can keep your Nokia contacts and your main Outlook contacts separate. Very handy....
