Post Recommend a Good Durable Flash Drive

Do they even exist? I'm seem to be getting about 6 months out of my flash drive until it breaks. The drive part still works but if I can't attach it to my keychain it's useless to me.

It needs to be at least 16GB though I think I'm wanting to go 32Gb, I don't want a cap cause I'm just going to lose, also it must be able to attach to a keychain and it and most importantly it needs to be strong, I'd like an all metal one, do they exist?

My last flash drive was

it had a good connection for keychain which my previous ones didn't have and it didn't use a cap to cover the USB port but the lid broke off at the swivel joint spot so now it' useless to me. I like the design of this one and I'd love to see it made out of metal.

I am not sure it would be the right "fit" but you could always try the "Magnum":

Going to be a little more durable...

Yeah seen the heavy duty ones, I guess I'll get one if that's all there is. I done need it to be bullet proof or withstand sub zero temps or being run over by 5 semi's I just want a well built one. Just like I wouldn't want a cheap plastic laptop but I don't want to have to get a panasonic tough book, I'd like something in between

I think having unscrew that cap every time I want use it would get old real fast, plus I'd probably lose the cap and then break the USB port a couple days later

Costco sells a three pack of the retractable SanDisk Cruzer... They seem to hold up well for me.

That one looked promising but that keychain thing looks flimsy and they reviewers complained about it breaking off and that the drive just stopped working after a few months.

I've been using this drive a lot over the last year and it's worked really well! Pretty happy with my purchase, only issue is that the drive has some slow transfer speeds so things take a few seconds longer when I transfer Service Pack files or .iso's, etc. Other than that it's still working good, it does have a little chip in it but nothing big.

My big concern was with the keyring hole breaking and it's still holding strong today with no wear.

With that said I'm upgrading from the 16GB drive to the 32GB model, it's now selling for about the same price I paid for the 16GB 1yr+ ago and I'm constantly deleting stuff to make room for new stuff and then I end up needing the stuff I deleted later on.

I've had a Patriot XPorter that I bought for speed, but it's rubberized and has lasted me about 3 years now (and still going).

yeah I don't want something like that and it's too big, too much of a hassled to unscrew it every time.

ya, agreed. I saw it plugged into a laptop and it made the 15 inch look like a mini. It appeals to my geek side.

OR, this \/

Hey #1 STUNNA, it's you from the future! I think I found what you're looking for! The Kingston DataTraveler SE9

It's metal, capless, and the loop is really strong! It's also faster than the San Disk Cruz Blade, which you'll find out is pretty slow for flash drives. Also it's thinner than the cruz blade so it's good for those USB ports that are real close together like on your MBP.

I think the <s>CompUSA</s> Tiger Direct down the street has them in 64GB flavors, you should grab one!

Dood thanks! That thing is EXACTLY what I was looking for! My San Disk keyhole is still holding up good but I think the USB port may be starting to wear, often PC recognize it being plugged in but it doesn't pop up in explorer. Maybe I should take some Isopropyl Alchohol to the connectors and see if that helps. 64GB is nice though, I haven't filled up my 32GB but I could if I wanted to, so might as well jump to 64.
