When I had my technical interview for my job, they asked me one question "how would you troubleshoot if a printer goes offline?" The rest of the interview was just bs

Good luck! I agree with the above though.

So you have no experience in the it field just a few certs that you got over the past few months? Yeah that's gonna be tough answering those questions not having actually done it.

Well, I did my best and got a return email for a face-to-face interview next week

My interviewer had me explain STP process, Nat, DNS, trouble shooting, sub netting, VPN's, VLAN, and something else I can't think of right now... In my return email they did say that I sounded nervous so to cut that shit out

Next week will be grueling but hopefully it all pays off. I agree Stunna (did I really just type that?) I've got more work to do before then and I've only just started learning this but I do put in atleast 8hrs a day studying and doing labs, plus my 9-5 job which is 70miles from my home. I guess time will tell if it was enough or not

The idea was floated about 3-4 months ago but they aren't anymore. Graham has been talking about going private to give them more flexibility

Yeah, it's pretty standard knowledge. I'm not getting on your case, just shocked you got the in-person interview. Definitely don't embellish what you know, but eloquently explain what you do know. If you try to blow smoke up their ass, it won't go well. Stick to light tongue play.

Be cool..

You can learn all of this on the job or in a book. Not rocket science. As long as they dig you, you should do fine.

True. After talking to some guys who work there, they all say the same thing "don't bs, if you don't know something then say you don't, but then attempt to answer it" I'll definitely stick to that.

It's true for most technical positions. I work in a very technical environment. I've seen new hires run out of here with their tails between their legs within months because they spoke a big game. They were stressed teh fuck out and it was lose lose for all involved. If you're honest, a good company / group will spend time developing your expertise letting you run with it eventually. If you talk a big game, they'll give to enough rope right away to hang from the empire state building. Some might pull it off, but with aggressive customer deadlines.. most will drown / hang, not worth the stress. Then you have to explain why you only worked at company X for 2 months.

Its not that hard. Light switch on, light goes on. Light switch off, light goes off... Pretty simple if you ask me.

Pirate Bay ?
The Pirate Bay Raided By Police, Site Down
Swedish police have reportedly raided The Pirate Bay. The portal has been down for several hours. The site has long hidden behind the relatively lax laws of Sweden, but it appears it's exhausted the leniency.

I had my interview today and I feel pretty good about it but I'm not sure I'll get picked up out of the group. There are 15 of us total and apparently they're only taking 5 on for their TNT program which is an accelerated program to get us up to a level 2 spot/knowledge. A few of the guys I know from the day group are very knowledgeable and or have background in IT already, so it's going to be tough. Should know by Friday, if not they'll give me a list of things to improve on and I'll be able to apply for the next tnt program in 3 months, which would be for 20-25 spots vs just 5 so who knows. I'll get my security cert for the CCNA next week so back to studying for that.

GL Beez.. keep at it! I wouldn't be surprised if they picked you.. just as long as you didn't disclose your issues with hitting stuff in the parking lot.

Also, I am back in the search for a LEGITIMATE, US license of Office Home and Business 2010. I am reading of SO many people having issues with IMAP mail in Outlook 2013 connected to gmail, yahoo, frequent crashes, etc that I am just not willing to take the chance on 2013.

Anyone know of a good source of licenses? I have the install media.

EDIT: Just found these guys: http://www.mychoicesoftware.com/prod...iness-download

They seem legit, US based, etc... Good resellerratings.com reviews...

Finally heard back from Rackspace today... So we started with 28 people going for 5 immediately available jobs, 15 of us got face to face interviews and I ended up ranking 6th which sucks but a lot of these folks have been doing IT for their entire careers. I'm not going to get the job I want right away but could reapply in 3 months if another tnt starts then, which she said I should be good to go for that but she said she can't legally make a guarantee. They did offer me an interview for a spot on a email and apps team so I'm going to go for it and see what happems. I'll either learn about mail and app stuff while getting my CCNP over the next 8 months or so, or get denied and apply again in 3 months.
