Well PC guys, i have been searching around for a 17" LCD monitor for my comp when i pack up for school this weekend. I researched them a bit and realized that for my needs, the samsung 17" is perfect, it has a 12ms refresh rate and is about $400. HOWEVER, i was in bestbuy with my rents tonight and noticed that they had a 17" Samsung HDTV LCD TV with PC input, open item for $529. Needless to say, i convinced my parents to buy it for me, but i need to get the correct cable to hook it up to the PC.
My real question is, how does the TV really work as a monitor? Is text crisp and clear, or somewhat blury? How are video files, better than the PC monitor or will this TV own. The guys at bestbuy couldn't come up with a definitive answer, but i know my boys on ACL.com can.

damn man i hate to say it but anything open box in the store i would have gotten HALF OFF, maybe next time you';ll let me know i sent you my walkie number in a PM before. anyway about the monitor they use to have a display in the comp deparment if you had DVI outof your comp and i believe that monitor is DVI than you would get a real crisp clear picture. i dont knwo what it would look like with just a regular VGA hook up? wat kind of connection is it from the monitor to the PC???

 

DVI is suppose to be clearer and crisper but tell you the truth most people can't really tell. You can just use a dvi to vga convertor. Check to see if it has DVI and VGA specs. They usually can tell you wat is up. Is it a montior that can be used as a TV or a TV that can use as a monitor. Usually the TV that can be used as monitors don't perform that well as a monitor.
