Jrod and myself have been going back and forth on the data service and who would pay 79.99 to go online anywhere unlimited with similar speeds to a cable modem...
This includes work, fun, ect...Since I am sure plenty of people on the board could claim it as a work expense...or have their work pick it up for them..(this includes IT guys ect..)
Please be honest

I'm really on the fence. I know I could really use it but $80/mo is a bit of a tough sell right now. Yes, it would be a tax deduction for me, but its still another $80 going out every month. At this point, I'm waiting for someone else to give Verizon some competition and bring the price down. I don't want to get locked into a 1-2 year contract at $80/mo and three months later they drop the price.
30 bucks a month unlimited date, tmobile sidekick.
Had i not entered in a 1 year contract for that, then i would have just upgraded my sprint phone from the current sanyo model i have to a new treo 650 (badass) and have the same unlimited data at no extra cost from my sprint plan.

So, why do I need to pay an extra 80/month for near cable modem speed net on my computer, when I have that at home or in hotels.
Considering I spend a lot of time living on the road (a rock band tour bus most recently) I know what worked for me, and what got me by with no problems and at the cheapest cost.
So, what am I talking about? something I know more about then you do since I actually tend to live on the road with a lot of my work, as opposed you coming to the same store day in and day out. Especially, when it comes to my needs. I am not some businessman traveling and needing access to my companies network away from home...which again...hotels...since most all have high speed access now, even wireless...much like the venues the band was playing at with my last job.
So, until a service like that comes way down in price, my sidekick, or even a treo 650 does the trick perfectly. Thats what im talking about.

oh yea how it t-mobile's service...I mean blackberry is usually run over a BES server putting it over encryption of i believe 128k..So I would feel alot safer with that

** First off, I have sold blackberrys to people who are in offices all day but just not right next to a computer, or in meetings all day and need to be notified of emails asap...so it doesnt matter what atmophere your in..you can still use a blackberry or better yet wireless internet...so me being in a store and you being on the road has nothing to do with it..??

**I trust it enough to check my balances, not make transfers or anything.
And it does matter what atmosphere...cause I know a sidekick or blackberry is a much easier and cheaper way to get emails, then 80/mos for high speed.
My living on the road means I have been in the situations and needed the practical solutions found by all these devices. and paying 80/mos is ludacris, unless as you said, youre company is paying for it. But even then, to receive emails and what not all day that means having a computer open and running. Where I can have a sidekick or whatever sitting in my pocket or bag, and it will tell me when I have a message and the battery will last all day.
And blackberrys have much better professional office purposes (more of a pda device) then a sidekick, which is more a toy, but then again I dont work in offices. and its still cheaper then 80/mos for high speed.
If I was to use the EVDO network for full Internet, Meaning Home and Away, even than the price is a bit too much, but thats the only way I see someone paying that much, and still it would not have the reliability of a real Cable Modem
